good .410 shells

Now that ammo prices have went up, i need to know some quality .410 shells that are usually cheap. Anyone have any suggestions?
 
Cheap is a relative term... compared to 12 and 20 gauge, no .410 are cheap. Was a time in my life (many moons have since passed) when .410 were nearly the same price as 12 gauge if not a little less at times. I cannot justify owning a .410 with the cost them little shells with less usability...

The up side of .410s is they are cheaper to reload.

depends on the load, some of my long range components make it equal to my 12's standards.

I have been able to find remington sporting clay 410's at walmart for 7.99 a box of 25. These have been great for shooting clays and dove. I still shoot long range express (11.89 a box) or make my own reloads for quail and rabbit. For me the 410 is cheaper to shoot as I try to make each shot count a little more. The 12 and 20 became to easy to just blast away at marginal shots and at the end of the day ending up using more ammo which would overall cost me more.
 
When considering ammo costs, I suspect most will consider a per box (of 25) cost. Not the total costs because of differing quantities shot. When reloading shot shells the costs of wads, primers and powder are fairly constant for all gauges. It's the varying shot charges that are the major variable.

From a 25 lb (400 oz) bag of shot you can load:
355 (14.2 boxes) 1-1/8 oz 12-ga loads,
457 (18.3 boxes) 7/8 oz 20-ga loads,
522 (21.3 boxes) 3/4 oz 28-ga loads, or
800 (32 boxes) 1/2 oz .410-bore.​
Assuming lead shot retails at $30 a bag, shot costs for reloading are:
$2.11/box for 1-1/8 oz 12-ga,
$1.64/box for 7/8 oz 20-ga,
$1.41/box for 3/4 oz 28-ga, and
$0.94/box for 1/2 oz .410-bore.​
Most serious reloaders buy in bulk and pay about 2/3 of retail for shot. This drops the per box shot prices to: $1.40, $1.09, $0.94 and $0.63
 
If your 296 powder runs you $15 a pound, that fiqures out to about 71 cents a box. If you use 13.5 grains per shell. I love shooting 410s.
 
I reload .410's so I don't buy shells - but if I was going to buy a few boxes I would probably buy Rio's ( they make them in 8's and 9's ).

The other cheap shell on the market is Estate / but I think Rio's are a lot better. I've seen a few boxes of Rio's .410's for sale aroung $ 10 a box ( of 25 ).
