In the past ive loaded Speer gold dot and Remington gold sabers in my 9mms. Lately these seem to be a little thin. My lgs has lots of Hornady hst and pmc starfire and even cor-bon. Any of these as good as the former or am I a Chinese jet pilot? Any suggestions on preferred jhp for the .40?

I like Federal HST and Gold Dot, 180-grain if I can find it, 165-grain if I can't.

Those are the only ones I use. Both great designs, both well-proven and widely adopted by law enforcement. The current very, very favorite is the 180-grain HST, then 180-grain Gold Dot, then the 165-grain HST, then the 165-grain Gold Dot. I don't go lighter.

I carry 150 grain jhp Corbon because it is the most accurate in my PPS. I think all forty loads are pretty effective, so accuracy was my differentiator.

Federal HST 180 grain is my carry ammo. Excellent performance. Look up test videos & you'll know why they're one of the top rounds.
