Gold Dot or Gold Saber or Hydrashock .40 cal?

All 3 would be great choices. TX Lawman nailed the answer and I'll add whichever is also 100% reliable.

If one exhibits better accuracy than the others, pick it. If not, I'd take them in the order listed.

For Gold Dots, check out www.proload.com . Do a search on ProLoad and you'll see why.

Out of the three that you mentioned, Hydrashock appears to have the best proven stopping power history (check out [Link to invalid post] and The Fackerites web pages). I personally prefer Remington's Golden Sabers because they are reliable and work well in a wide variety of circumstances. However, a previous trend on this board seems to indicate that most people prefer Gold Dot over the Sabers.

For a pretty exhaustive study on stopping power in Police shootings, go to
http://www.berettabulletin.com/caliber.htm

The Federal HydraShock had the best stopping power in the calibres it was available, but some of the differences were too slight to be significant.

Certainly a good read for anyone interested in the comparative performance of calibres and bullets.

Every gun has its own individual bias...
Some are more picky than others.
TX Lawman was correct. Test these rounds in various weights and ranges and find the load that gives you the best balance of energy and accuracy while giving you no less than 100% reliability.

George is right on. Guns can be picky on what round is most reliable and accurate out of it. Try out the various types. Most of the modern designs are essentially equal when you do your part. As for me personally, I went with 165 gr. Golden Sabers out of my Sig 229...

I prefer the gold dot in 155 grain..I like the gold dots that are jacket bonded to the core to inhibit jacket/core seperation, something that I noticed sometimes happens with the Golden Saber round. Also I like the accuracy of the gold dot :)
