Gold Cup

What is the retail range for a new
Colt Gold Cup? Both Blue and stainless
price please.

I'm looking to get another government model
for carry/IDPA.

Here's my thinking...With a Gold Cup I could
simply replace the front sight and maybe
grip safety and have the gun I want.

The good trigger and accuracy potential will
already be there. Sound reasonable or not?

Buy a milspec gov't model and have a decent shop (like Cylinder and Slide) improve it for self-defense and IDPA use. You will save money in the long run by doing things this way. An out of the box Gold Cup just isn't worth the expense (YMMV).

Here in central Alabama, used blued Gold
Cup's in "good shape" start at $800.00 and
on up. Recently, saw a stainless Gold Cup
NIB and unfired witha price tag of $1195.00.
Hope this helps some.

God luck finding a new Gold Cup. There are new Trophy Cups available but I haven't seen a new Gold Cup in ages.

One of our dealers has a new manufacture Gold Cup on the shelf right now. I looked it over and it seems like a decent pistol. Still, it isn't a Wilson, Baer, etc. The price is $900.00 and he said he doesn't have much markup in it.

BTW:

The pistol came from Go distributors in Billings, Montana and they have more. Your dealer could probably get you one if you want it.

I personally don't think 80's or 90's series Gold Cup are any better than their regular 1991 pistols except the finish is better and adjustable sights (too fragile). Their trigger and accuracy is not much better, if any, and I don't think Gold Cups get any more hand fitting than 1991. Better to get Kimber or SA loaded pistol for the money.

Mike: I have two 70 Series Gold Cups. One has only had one magazine fired through it. The other, I use occasionally, just to remind me how much I prefer my Glock 21.

If you'd like to buy my lnib Gold Cup, be sure and don't ask how much $$$. If you have to ask, then you can't afford it.

My impression is that a good-condition Series 70 Gold Cup might be at the peak of its value right about now. What would be a fair range for such an item, and are they likely to increase substantially in value, relative to other fine firearms?

In other words, should I buy one now and how much should I expect to pay?

Thanks
