getting a military bolt action-enfield, or springfield 1903

also interested in the marlin 1895 cowboy in 45/70

want to spend around $700 max

also would be interested in a garand or m1a from springfield but they appear fairly pricey

what do you guys think about these different choices?
the rifle would be used for plinking (yes even the 45/70 cause recoil is not that big of an issue for me at 350lbs)
and i want it to be a well rounded rifle that i can use to hunt deer/boar with when not using my redhawk in 44 mag

was thinking of just getting a winchester 70 synthetic in 300 wsm or 308, but i really like those military bolts

give me the pros and cons of each one, help me decide
thanks

I know of a guy selling a USGI Blue Sky reimport for $500.
It was bought when WF Woolworth sold guns and put in a closet. Barrel is supposed to be great and I had pic's. If interested email me and I will find his addy again....email him at gunrunnerred@hotmail.com

STOP! Before you buy a lesser rifle, go to
http://www.gunbroker.com

or

http://www.gunsamerica.com

You may be able to find an M1 for around $700 that's not some imported bad decision.

You're not going to get a Spr. 1903 that's safe to shoot for $700, unless you get lucky at

http://www.odcmp.com

The Marlin sounds like a good bet. Still have plenty left over for other stuff.

What I'ld like to know is what's with the military bolt action lust?? I mean, I picked up a 700ADL for less than $300, and the Redfield scope I put on her cost about $200. Lightwieght, easy-to-throw bolt, (for those of us who need more than one shot), and accurate as all get out.

You know, for $700, you can pick up a Yugo Mauser and still have enough left over for something else.

Note Mike....I stated RE Import.....USGI sold to the Korean Army and sent back. I am NOT talking Chimcom.

how come no one makes the 1903 anymore? seems like at least one company would make a good copy of it

uh oh, just remembered my lust for a sendero in 7mm mag
what you guys think about this one as well rounded rifle to longrange shoot/plink/hunt with? seems like it could take anything on the continent and is very flat shooting i know they might be more in the $800 range but, i might do that to get a stainless one
