Going to be traveling in Alabama, Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina

I fully plan on looking over Packing.org on each of these states. Anything anybody from any of these states want to tell me personally about experiences they've had or the way the laws as listed are interpreted? (in short, anything I should be aware of that packing.org doesn't specify?)
It will be a driving trip going from courthouse to courthouse and staying in motels. I have a Texas and now Florida CHL/CWL so I am allowed to carry in all of these above said states. (I will also be traveling to get to these states through Mississippi, Georgia, and Louisiana.....I might be going to south Florida too (don't know yet)

Thank y'all

In North Carolina stay at 72 m.p.h. or below so you don't donate money to the highway patrol. In the Charolette area they aren't real ccw friendly. If in the western counties drop a email and can use my range to do stress relief from driving

Good reply Tony. Thanks. :)

I'll likely be driving from Ohio to Florida and back in a month or so and will be going through VA, NC, SC, GA & FL. I'm getting my PA carry permit so I can carry in GA. My Ohio permit is good for all the others (except for WV  ).

It's good to have a little personal experience related prior to traveling.

CAMMA POOO GSHOTENEGGHH!!!!!!!!!! (Klingon cursing) www.packing.org is down.

Bluesman, you could bypass WV and go through Tennessee. Unless WV will let you at least travel in your car with a gun. Or go through Pennsylvania and go south into VA. I don't think either of my permits are good in WV either....but then I think I remember noting that they were good in all Southern States

those counties are not really western counties they are all east of the real mountians. I live in Haywood county. if your traveling I 40 to or from tenn. thru n.c. you'll pass within 8 miles of me

Doug, I think that "Qu'vatlh guy'cha b'aka!" would be more appropriate.

And, yes. It is still down. Some bloodless p'tahk probably pulled the wrong cord.

Bluesman, your knowledge of Klingon curses is impressive...but as a Romulan would say, only a Valrul would use such language on a public forum ;)

DANG this is irritating. Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee all have that stupid law saying you can't carry in any restraunt that sells alcholol for consumption on the premesis (which rules out everywhere except McDonlds, Burger King and other fast food places:barf: )
Virginia's law is even screwier:
No person shall carry a concealed handgun onto the premises of any restaurant or club as defined in §4.1-100 for which a license to sell and serve alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption has been granted by the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Board under Title 4.1 of the Code of Virginia, nothing herein shall prohibit any owner or event sponsor or his employees from carrying a concealed handgun while on duty at such restaurant or club if such person has a concealed handgun permit. NOTE: only concealed handguns are prohibited - openly carried handguns are allowed

So is this saying that a manager or waitress at Chilies can carry a gun under their apron and my (the customer) gun MUST be open on my hip even if I have a CHL? Or can I not carry there at all?

This is all dopy.   Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama all allow you to carry, basically unless you are there to drink (at the bar) or if the places PRIMARY function is to serve alchololic drinks

The actual VA Code paragraph related to concealed handguns is HERE
This is the part concerning on property where alcohol is sold for on-site consumption:
No person shall carry a concealed handgun onto the premises of any restaurant or club as defined in § 4.1-100 for which a license to sell and serve alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption has been granted by the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Board under Title 4.1 of the Code of Virginia; however, nothing herein shall prohibit any sworn law-enforcement officer from carrying a concealed handgun on the premises of such restaurant or club or any owner or event sponsor or his employees from carrying a concealed handgun while on duty at such restaurant or club if such person has a concealed handgun permit.
Owners or employees with the owner's permission may concealed carry on the property. That is kinda wacky, but the NOTE is added by Packing.org; I'm pretty sure any carry on premises where alcohol is sold and consumed is prohibited. Did you see other prohibited places on packing's list? VCU (which I attend) is off limits for any carry yet is in the heart of the fifth most dangerous city in America.
Virginia will honor your CHP, though, per the reciprocity agreement.

........................  :o :o :) :) Shoneys. Crackerbarrel...Yeahhh: Good breakfast

Very true.

If I remember right they have Shoneys about every exit along the Interstate in western Virginia from Roanoke all the way up to Fredericksburg

We used to have a bunch down here, but there is only one left in Texas that I know of by the Astrodome. One I know if in Monroe Louisiana and that's it. Both are kinda going down the tubes
