Going to a reception for my Congressman...

Got an invitation to a reception/fundraiser for my congressman, and I sent in my donation and RSVP. The invitation I believe was sent out to physicians in the District, because the invitation had all kinds of stuff about how the Congressman supports various sorts of healthcare legislation.
Anyway, he is a pretty good supporter of 2nd Amendment issues, and I figure I'll thank him for such if I get the chance to bend his ear at the gathering. In addition, though, I wanted to politely remind/encourage him regarding important pending RKBA legislation if I get the chance.

Anyone out there that has dealt with congressman and their staff, I'd like some pointers on how to get my thoughts across in a polite, civilized, and concise way in the (most likely) very short time I will have, should the opportunity present itself. What, for example, is THE ONE MOST IMPORTANT bill regarding RKBA now in committee or before congress?

TIA

Funny you should bring this up ... got a very similar deal a few back & had the BBQ (pretty intimate party at a private house ... ~35-50 in attendance) last Friday night. (as an aside, we had 6 TRT folk in there ;) ) For Bob Schaffer/CO, BTW

One thing I noticed was that Bob didn't much want to discuss legislation at the party (but was more than willing to do so afterwards) - kinda pushed it off to a staffer. Taking that que, I asked him how we could help him out in defending our liberties, etc. & that turned the lights on. He's very aware of TRT's goals & supports 'em fully = a guy I can work with. So, I thanked him & then started bending his stafferes' ears just enough to find out how to work the system a bit later & then we all just partied.

We will be talking much more in the future.
Too, Bob does a every Monday morning breakfast in Ft Collins, just before taking off back to the Evil City.
As with anything else if life, courtesy & respect, being polite usually works alot better than the vinager.

Bob's pretty good on most accounts, but if you get to deal with a snake - I dunno ....
sometimes you're just screwed.
