Going rates for AK-47

John,

That's sort of like asking what the going prices for pickup trucks are. There are many manufacturers, and a huge variation in looks and quality. On the cheap end, they start at $250-300 and go up to $1000 or more. For a good quality, new-in-box one expect to pay $500-600. Do a search on AK's on this forum and you'll find good advice. I'd recommend AK-47.net, but that website is currently down.

Quite right Rock_Jock...

I payed $400 for my MAK-90 partially customized. Cheaper versions go for about around $300 or so in my territory.
I pay $12 to about $15 for lightly used european 30 round mags. Good quality 5 round mags (chineese) go for about $10. If you sort through the used-euro's a bit, you'll find
good ones and get them! Good for using rounds like Wolf and other low quality russian brand ammo, and thay other mags high quality hunting ammo (FMJ). Just my thoughts...
use it! :) outro,.

prices......

Get a copy of shotgun news. Those prices are dealer prices but tack on maybe $50 or so and there you have it. I see some for about $300 dealer prices. I have seen mags 4 for $19.99 that's $5 a pop for 30rd ones!!! I think thats dang cheap! Hope that this helps.----DAROGUE1

Thanks guys...

Sorry, Rock, that I was so vauge... I was trying to do some pre research for a friend of mine who aquired an AK-47 and wanted to know the market value.

I'll post some details and look around some more.

:)

It's a Maadi AK-47 stamped receiver. The trigger group, piston, carrier and bolt are fairly rough.

It comes with 2 30 rnd and 1 5 rnd magazines, and a receiver cover with a scope mount.

I'm thinking $400.00 - $450.00?

The MAADI's are not highly sought after and are considered to be less than average quality. A new in the box Maadi will cost around $300. If someone takes the time to look around a bit, its not hard to find them even less than that. AK 30 round mags run $9.00-13.00.

If you are looking for an inexpensive AKM try: http://www.gunsnammo.com/

Would you buy it...

So, for $350.00 would you buy an Egyptian Maddi AK-47 with 2 30 round mags, one 5 round mag, bipod, upper receiver cover with accesory rail, and long hard case? Private AZ sale.

He's given me first dibs on it... any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

IMPORTANT below:

BTW, how can you tell a pre-ban from a post-ban?

Wow, those sure are some cheap prices! Last time I checked, an AK-47 was in the $3000-$5000 range.

I would not buy one for that much. There are several other versions that are $350 or less that would be alot better quality. I am sure that the MAADI would go bang when you pulled the trigger but the fit and finish is terrible.

For $350 you can buy any Romanian AK and have a very nice rifle. CDNN sells the China Polytech AKS for $349-399. It is the BEST post ban AK available. I have owned several AK's and can tell you that the Poly's are superb. Plus you would have alll original internal parts, which is sweet. You can add a pistol grip to the post ban Poly buy using mags with U.S followers and floorplates.

If you like the way the Maadi looks and feels, offer him $299 for the whole package. It wouldnt be a 'good' deal but it would be 'fair'.

Let us know how it goes.
