Going camping (& plinking) what do you bring?

What should go on our trip this weekend?

Since other family and friends will surely like to plink, I've decided to bring the un-wavering crowd pleasers:

Browning Buckmark

FNH PS90

Barnett Panzer crossbow

Wish I could pack the whole gun safe and ammo locker and a case of clay pigeons, but - we need to "travel light" :D:D

What do you bring for camping / plinking trips with family and friends?

Everything

When we go to camp, we bring pret'near everything as our camp is an hour and a half away so we typically go for the weekend. Typical packing would include all pistols; buckmark, beretta 92fs compact, sig p229, walther ppk, remington R1, colt delta elite, firestar plus, bodyguard 38, S&W 66-1 and taurus 66. Then for the long guns we will bring; bushmaster, armalite, mini-14, cz 527 in 204, howa 1500 in 22-250, m1 carbine, AK 47, and if I have rounds loaded - K98 mauser and Lee enfield. On top of the guns that I leave there; SKS, savage 93 in 17hmr, and ruger 10/22. Others that make the trip occassionally; thompson m1, and shotguns. As we get closer to the fall and we get ready for deer season, the fun guns stay home and the big boys come out and get ready for huntin'. The 308's, 270, and 300 WSM get dialed in, and we don't bring the fun guns out until after deer season and we start hunting coyotes.

Our other camp is too near other camps as it is on a lake so I will typically only carry my EDG watlher ppk and maybe one of the 22's for squirrels.

Forgive me if I come off sound like a smart but...

Just a reminder, make sure you dont forget the ammo for the firearms you are taking. Nothing more disappointing then to go camping like that and remember you left the ammo at home on the table.

Id also try to bring some targets, either paper, or perhaps you can plink at some cans and bottles too? Something I have found are fun, are small targets like eggs. Even if they are left over hard boiled eggs from breakfast, they are still a good target. Also if you cant take the case of clay pigeons, take some at least. Its a good size to help teach youngsters on and also some folks new to firearms.

Also perhaps take a magic marker so you can draw a target on some cardboard too. Perhaps reuse your food packaging that you take along as a target after you have consumed the food that was in it.

Sometimes, there is.
...like leaving all of the magazines at home. (forehead slap)

Whatever guns I can fit into the truck and have ammo to feed them.

All ways have a backup loaded just in case.

Charter Arms AR 7

showing it's age with lots of misfires now but still fun putting together especially when introducing new shooters

Sprung for a Marlin 39A few years back, boy does that shoot nice

.22 is definitely the way to go for plinking tho breaking out the 308 or the 12 gauge is fun for the occasional"fire power" demonstration;)

I tend to focus on no more than 1 or 2 firearms per trip so:

my latest acquisition is a 308 Savage xp trophy hunter with a nikon prostaff scope on top. So I took the scope and put it on my remington 700.........

then I took the scope from the 700 and put it on my ruger no.1.

the savage then had no sights (she said) so I put a red dot on her.

I also have a bfr hogleg revolver (in a 45-70) I'd like to sight in........so most likely I'd take one or 2 of those babys................

YO....I'm working on it

I don't have that many guns... just a handful of ARs, a few pistols, a few shotguns and a handful of 10/22s. So whenever I'm going camping and its going to be a gun friendly camping situation I bring the whole family.

If its not going to be a situation where I can go shooting then my EDC ccw 1911 comes with me along with a 10/22, my old mossy 500 in 12ga. and my kick around DPMS Sporter (cheap AR means I can throw it in the truck and not have to worry too much about ruining an expensive gun if anything happens to it). The long arms stay in the truck or camper. The 1911 stays on me at all times.

EDIT:

Oh and I try to bring along several loaded mags for any guns I bring with me as well as loose ammo. On more than one occasion I've been boneheaded enough to forget the mags. What a PITA loading an AR one cartridge at a time...

At least 2 semii auto ebr's, maybe a Fal for me and and AR15 for the wife, for just in case.

Had more trouble in AZ with punks, meth heads, criminals and other diverse scumbags than I cared for to be unarmed.

One of my taurus 94 accompany me almost everywhere. Along with that I usually have a Marlin 60 and some sort of shotgun.
