Friends,
The GOA has issued and alert to the situation in NEW YORK......
After reading, please contact your senators in this state......And those of you from other states feel free to share your opinions.
The Senate Majority Leader is JOSEPH BRUNO, a REAL Republican from the 43rd Senatorial District at 518-455-3191. Pataki and Bruno have been at war over a previous Medicaid financing issue. The latest, when Pataki went to inform the inner circles of his new gun control plan, he did not invite Sen Bruno...Bruno was left in the dark. Bruno is pissed.....
Right now Pataki thinks he can get away with anything. He comes up for election in 2002 or he may be your new Vice President and you will have to deal with him nationally.
Lets first call Sen Bruno and offer your support. He needs to know what mainstream people think. (Are we still mainstream?)
Second make sure to call the Bush Camp and tell them that if Pataki is tapped for VP they can kiss your support goodbye. Those numbers again are:
Westchester Bush 914-949-3020
New York Bush 212-490-2002
Bush Texas HQ 512-637-2000
Westchester GOP 914-949-3020
Third, all NY state residents, call your senator and express your views. Pataki needs to be put back in line!
Again, I thank all that have provided support on this issue.....
Best regards,
Dan

New York State Emergency Legislative Alert
Governor George Pataki, or Governor "Gun Control" as he is being called these days, has pulled out all the stops in a bid to kiss up to the anti-gun media and Washington D.C. elitists. Pataki's "5 point invasion" of your rights is exactly what Bill Clinton and Sarah Brady have been fighting for unsuccessfully all over the country and on Capitol Hill.
Frankly, contacting Pataki most likely will not have much effect -- he is probably too far gone. That is why you need to contact your legislators, ESPECIALLY the Senate -- and voice your opposition to this foolish anti-gun program. Insist they oppose the Governor's "5 point invasion" of your rights and all gun control. Tell them "NO GUN CONTROL IN 2000."
Most commentators agree that the close fight will be in the senate, and that the bills must be killed there, before they get to the more anti-gun Assembly.
You will be subject to unbelievable new restrictions if Governor "Gun Control" gets his way. His 5 point invasion" includes:
* S06909 -- A Pataki Plan to Force Brady Registration at gun shows and flea markets. If you buy a gun at a so-called "gun show,"
Big Brother wants to know about it. This is the next major step towards a complete gun owner database. And if Pataki, Brady,
Clinton and company have their way ALL private sales will eventually
be registered with Big Brother. If it passes, anti-gunners win and it could result in the closing down of gun shows in the Empire State. Will it then be illegal to give a loved one a gun as a gift or for protection? And so-called "straw purchases" are already illegal.
* S06908 -- Raising the age on self-defense. Our 18, 19 and 20 year olds can still go and fight our wars overseas, but they won't be able to protect themselves stateside. Pataki and other anti-gunners call raising the handgun possession and licensing age from 18 to 21 "reasonable!" Why can we trust these voting-aged citizens to defend our country but not themselves? This foolish restriction will result only in law-abiding young adults being disarmed and at the mercy of gangs and street thugs who don't obey the law.
* A10059 -- "Gun DNA" program that will amass a huge gun database. Governor "Gun Control" Pataki thinks everybody should be
on record for everything -- forget privacy. Now he wants to develop a database of everything about your gun! And you will probably foot the enormous bill. This is a gun-tracking nightmare - you will be tied to a gun on a list -- if you sell it or it is stolen, it will still be linked to you.
* S06912 -- "Lock up your safety" requirement to keep you unprepared in emergencies. You won't be able to fire your gun in self-defense until it is unlocked. No criminal is going to wait while you enable your disabled and useless firearm. So your choices are be helpless against criminals or become one merely be having a
working gun. And gun dealers and manufacturers MUST supply locking
devices on all future gun sales -- that means a higher cost passed
directly on to you, again and again.
* S06903 -- A Gun and Ammo Ban with FELONY penalties. "This
proposal would make it a Class D violent felony to possess either an
assault weapon or a large capacity ammunition feeding device, and a
Class C violent felony to unlawfully sell an assault weapon or large
capacity clip." That is a direct quote from the Governor's press
release! Old Governor "Gun Control" proposes everything should be
just like the D.C. bureaucrats want it.
Rumors are flying about Pataki and his national ambitions.
Obviously he is willing to step all over you in order to fall in
line with the Clinton Administration gun-control agenda. He needs
to be reminded that he works for the people of New York State, not
liberals in Washington.
Remember -- Governor "Gun Control" probably couldn't care less what
you think, and those in the know feel that the only chance for gun
owners in New York is to stop these 5 attacks in the Senate.
Bills have already been introduced in the House and Senate; there is
no time to waste! Please call the Members of the Senate and urge
them to oppose all of Governor "Gun Control" Pataki's proposals and
all gun control. Tell your legislators "NO GUN CONTROL IN 2000."
