Glock Threaded Barrels

One of my cousins is moving from Oakland to Las Vegas, so I plan on buying a threaded barrel for her Glock 19 as a housebreaking present and celebration of her move to a free state.

Do they drop in directly, or will it require fitting? Does it matter if it's a Gen 3 or Gen 4?

I didn't see any for sale on the Glock website - do they make any OEM barrels, or do I have to buy from a third-party manufacturer? Who makes a good barrel? Lone Wolf is the first to come up on Google, and can be purchased from Brownell's for $130, but I also see Silencerco has their own threaded barrel for $220.

I've heard good things about Silencerco suppressors, so they seem to be a reputable manufacturer. Is their barrel worth the almost 50% price premium? I actually like this cousin, so price is not an object for me if it's actually better - I'll spend the extra money on quality, but I won't spend it on marketing.

I don't think that Glock sells threaded barrels. You can buy them from third parties.

Generally any pistol barrels will be drop-in replacements unless it is clearly specified in the details/specs that they are not. Fitting is usually only required for match barrels.

Ive had three LWD barrels, the two of which I still have, are threaded. None of them have ever been a problem, and all dropped right in.

I believe the factory Glock barrels are a left hand metric thread. Not a problem really, but you may want to make sure of that if your suppressor is something else, or if youre getting one to go with the barrel, then you need to specify that.

Huh. You learn something new every day. I do find it odd that those Glock barrels seem to be completely absent from the Glock website.

How common is the 13.5 x 1 LH threading in the US? I'm more inclined to getting the more common 1/2 x 28 and be able to use the same suppressor across different firearms without an adapter, but this is all new to me.

I have a factory threaded barrel in my G19. It is indeed left hand threaded. Mine came in the gun that way so no idea where to get one separate.

You will need a different piston for that thread pitch

Lone Wolf makes some good drop in stuff. Ive got one of those in my G35

Im pretty sure you can get different pistons to fit the different barrels (within the caliber sizes) for most handgun suppressors. Its just an added expense if you have one, and need another.

What can does she have? Most manufacturers make the Lh thread pitch. I got one for my AAC 9s without problem.

If you are getting a no name brand can, make sure they offer that thread pitch in their pistons. The big names all do.
