Glock Talk is Aggravating Me!

Can someone tell me why I am finding it impossible to get on Glock Talk between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. Central Time, on any given day.

Is it consistently "down" during this time frame? Is it a high volume of traffic? I use to think my server sucked but I'm able to get on anywhere else I choose during these hours.

It is really getting me tourqued!

I hadn't noticed specific hours of failure, but I'm hosed here as well.

And I was planning a laundry & chores all-nighter tonight. With no GlockTalk, what am I supposed to do after I finish my new S.M. Stirling novel?

I'm pretty cheesed off...

I can't get to them either... :P Which means I can't read the thread you posted gelnnda :)

Could you paste the text here for those that are hosed?

Hosed again. On the other hand, the last 48 hours have marked a first for me: more posts to (and time spent on) TFL than GT... A trend here?

crobrun:

On the Oceans of Eternity third book in the 'Nantucket' series. Great reading. So good that it reminded me why I usually don't start a series until the author finishes: the waiting kills me.

Must-read stuff for anyone into 19th century firearms

I haven't been able to reach Glocktalk through my cable internet service since they changed servers(it's a DNS issue), but I found a back door way around it(being an ex-network tech and 5 years + of internet experience does come in handy sometimes). Go to http://www.anonymizer.com/3.0/index.shtml then put in glocktalk.com at the top of the page. On the next page that comes up click on the button under "free users". It will take you to it through their DNS servers no problem(it's takes a minute to get there, delay factor). If a post doesn't show up just refresh the page. It's the only thing that's works for me.

Oh by the way it doesn't work between the hours of 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. The only time I have been able to get on GT so far has been between 10 a.m. an 4 p.m.

With all these "black out" periods, it must be very inexpensive to run on the "new and improved" server.

When it is up and running properly, would someone kindly post a message to that affect on TFL. This might sound churlish, considering this time last year I hadn't a clue about the internet, but I don't have time to wait when there are web sites running on reliable servers that pop up instantly. So I have a short attention span and little patience and need almost instantaneous gratification, shoot me!

I'll lurk here and elsewhere in the meantime.

Yea,it's really been bad lately. It has been down now since midnight last night and it's 8am here now and still not up. This is not good. Eric says he has 3 times more space now.....and 3 times less online time it seems.....ridiculous...go back to the old server, pretty simple...

Pat(sidearmore) said that Eric has been imformed of the problem and is/was working on it. I think that is the post.
I must get my daily dose of three things, coffee,GT, TFL or life ain't worth @#$%. :)

Well, in all candor, Eric's provided me a good trouble-free product at an unbeatable price for some time now. I'm willing to bear with some teething pains as long as they are rectified. Bear in mind that "What's happened to TFL?" threads were common on GT not too long back, and everything seems to be peachy here now peachy enough to make me a repeat customer(heck, now I have two forums to keep up with. Swell. Adios, my sorry little excuse for a social life...) So I'll give GT a bit more time to work out the kinks. Hope it's soon, though, I miss the place online where, like "Cheers", everybody knew my name. These faceless handles really start to grow into real folks after a while, don't they? And, to think that I'd avoided the internet because I hated 'live chat' and missed the old days of BBS's...
