Glock Serial # and Make Question

1. What is the 10 digit serial number on the top of the glock lower frame correspond too?

2. Domestic/Import
If the slide says made in Austria and the lower frame also has the Made in Austria marking; is it an import?

I'm curious, what would the alternative in this case be? It was made in the US but they lied?

Unless we have admitted a new state while I wasn't looking, "Made in Austria" would indicate an import. ;)

The 10 digit number near the left front slide rail on the frame (visible when the slide is removed) is not a serial number. Glock doesn't provide a lot of information about what those numbers mean.

Your gun is an import.

(Tipoc) Thanks for the link. Looked it up and I apparently have a mystery gun. My 3 letter code "PLE" indicated a gen 4 g21. However, mine is a Gen3 G20sf and I bought it in 2009 not 2010 as the PLE code indicates for production year. Got nowhere on that end unless i'm misreading it.

That's what I thought, a friend of mine was adamant that all glocks are made in America and i wasn't so convinced considering the made in Austria markings.

Glock did relatively recently start production of US made Glocks and you can find them. But there will be a little symbol that is the outline of GA on there.

Glock serial numbers do have some rough correlation to the date of manufacture, but it's hard to be dogmatic about how accurate the correlation is. They don't seem to relate to the particular type of pistol and that is complicated by the fact that some of the Glock frames are interchangeable between models. The 23, 19 & 32 frames are identical as are the 17, 22 & 31 frames and the 20 & 21 frames. So it wouldn't be out of question to see G17s, G31s and G22s all interspersed in a serial number sequence.

The Glocktalk serial number resource is based on information provided by pistol owners. The dates may be related to when they purchased the gun or on information they found with the gun that they believe relates to the manufacture date.

As far as the generation of the gun, Glock has been making Gen 3 and Gen 4 guns simultaneously for some time.

The best bet for determining about when your gun was made is to look at the date on the little envelope containing the two empty cartridge cases that came with your pistol when you bought it. It was made before that date, but probably not a long time before that date.

I have three gen 4 Glocks.....a 26, 19 and a 17. They are all made in USA models. I just wanted them that way for some reason.

They all have USA roll marked on the slide where AUSTRIA usually is and none of them have Made in Austria on the grip. As someone mentioned above, they all have the Georgia state mark on them as well.

They've all proven reliable and I'm glad I got the USA models. Plus, they have the Teflon looking finish on them versus the flat black. Just a preference for me.
