Glock Question

Since I'm new to the world of Glocks, Some questions are going to arise since I don't know totally What to expect from these things.
My 27 came with two 9 rd. mags, with some ammo I can get 9 in and they fit the gun properly. With Hydrashoks I can only get 8 in. If I go 9 it seems that I would have to force the mag in the gun the rest of the way. I won't do that! Just loaded them with 8 and they worked fine. Does anyone else expierience this?

Happy Glocking :)

My first G27 would not load its 9 rds comfortably, so I stayed with 8. Another owner had the same problem, and he cut some of the magazine spring off. He said that he can load 9 now. Not sure I would recommend that, but works for him. Just bought a new G27 with night eyes, and I hope it loads more easily to capacity than my last one -- will find out in 10 days.

IMO, THIS IS BAD ADVICE, DON'T GO HACKING UP YOUR MAGAZINES!

After a few loadings, the magazines will loosen up, and you'll be able to load the stated capacity without difficulty. Lots of people complain about magazines for many guns when they're new, but after use, they work just fine.

I'll second what John says. Don't alter your mag springs or followers. Go to the range and shoot your new Glock. The use of the mags should get them to loosen up.

Since this gun was hardly used I'll give it time to break in. I'm not one for making alterations. Thanks guys for the imput :)

Happy Shooting :)

Just load your mags with 9 rounds when not in use and leave them loaded for a couple of months they'll eventually 'break-in' and be easier to load all 9 rounds.

Like Robb said but you may also want to put them where they will be warm. This will help them to stretch while loaded to capacity. Remember warm not hot.

I'll load em up and keep them warm :)
Thanks guys :)

After the "10 round only" legislative outrage, I went out and bought 10 round magazines for my G23s for training/practice to save wear and tear on my full capacity mags. At first the 10 round mags were difficult to top off with 10 rounds. After a while I could get 10 in easily, but soon started experiencing failure of the slide stop to hold back the slide when the mags were empty. Sure enough, when I changed out the mag springs with new ones, once again the slide would stay back but now that 10th round is tough to get in again. huh.

I have never had any problems with my GLOCK mags. When new they would not load fully, but I would put the mag loader on the mag, after loading all I could seem to, and place the mag on a table. Then I would smack the loader, on the top with the palm of my hand, and that would allow me to fit another round in to fill it up.Worked for me. After a while I didn't need to smack it any more.
