Glock Question

My friend has a Glock 17. We took it to the range recently and he pointed out that the finish on the slide stop was worn off where it contacts the slide cut out on when locked open. The pistol has about 200 rounds through it.

I told him not to worry about it, that it's natural wear and that the Glock Tennifer finish is not applied to that particular part. Am I correct on this or should I get ready to eat crow?

Thanks,

Noban

My G17 has thousands of round through it, and the slide stop, while a bit worn, works as well as when it was new. I believe you're correct, that part isn't treated with the Tennifer hardening.

The black finish is just an oxide coating to look all swoopy & matte black anyhow. The Tenifer is colorless, underneath the black oxide, impregnated into the surface of the steel itself. Unless you take machine tools whose cutting surfaces you don't mind wearing out and mill a couple of hundredths off all the metal surfaces, the Tenifer is going nowhere...

After about 200rds, the slide stop on my G26 shows the same wear. Don't worry about it.
