Glock plastic melting temp?

I finally got a Glock 17. It works just fine and I like it a lot. I have a problem with my trigger finger. Due to an industrial accident some years ago, my trigger finger is bent at an odd angle.

At what temp will the Glock plastic become pliable enough to bend the trigger guard outward? Thanks in advance. Dale :confused::confused::confused:

If you look around the glock forums, you'll find that some of the guys who wish to have flat back straps use a candle to heat the plastic enough for it to collapse. While this doesn't give you the "exact temp" it would provide some methodology for shaping your trigger guard.

Edit: I found another reference that shows a melting point of 428 degrees.
 
While Glock won't say it, their guns are apparently made of Glass-filled Nylon. Nylon 66 melts at around 265 degrees C. I would not recommend trying to bend it.

Most polymers soften way before the melt temperature. You don't want to get anywhere close to the actual melt when all you want to do is bend the guard a bit.
