Glock Mods

I am about to get a used Glock 20 2nd gen. I am thinking about getting a trigger job, a new barrel, and/or other modifications. So my questions is; where are some good web sites to look this stuff up and to buy the parts. This will be one of my fun guns. I am getting it at a great price so I am not afraid to try stuff out and do a lot of mods. So if you have made any mods to your Glock that you really like I would love to know.

I am also going to start looking into getting a 1911 and doing the same think. I have two Kimbers and I love them. I should be looking for a good 1911 play gun in a few months. So if you know of any 1911 sites for the same thing I would also like to know them.

I was looking through some of the other topics that are closely related to this one. I found this comment very interesting and have a question about it for you.

With the exception of the factory ejector upgrade, my G20 is just as it came out of the box. It shoots great as it is, so I haven't been inclined to alter it. Night sights are a mod that would interest me, but I'm not in a hurry for them.
What did you have done to the ejector and why?

I believe the ejector was a part of a factory safety recall, but I do not know the details of that.

One thing that needs to go are the stock sights. If you like them, more power to you. I would either order my Glock with the factory Meprolights, or get aftermarket sights. I just never liked the rear U-sight, and the fact that the sights are plastic bothers me.

I also think the 3.5 pound trigger connector is a worthwhile upgrade, but I would not do this upgrade on a carry gun.

"The Plug", or the backstrap channel insert, looks nice and is cheap. Totally optional.

I prefer the balance of a Glock with a stainless steel guide rod.

My first gun was a new Glock 21, which I outfiited with parts from Glockmeister.com. I had the "plug", stainless guide rod with stock Glock recoil spring, Glock 3.5 trigger connector, extended slide lock lever (I wouldn' bother with that one again), and I ordered my G21 with the Meprolights. It all made for a great combination, but I think the sights and the stainless guide rod were the best things to have, followed by the trigger connector.

www.topglock.com is a great place to buy accesories.

You may want to ask around at www.glocktalk.com.

The Glock 20 that I am going to be getting is a 2nd gen with night sights a grip add-on to give you the finger groves and a hi-cap mag. While I was looking at www.glockmeister.com I saw a few things that I am thinking about doing. I think I will get the 3.5 trigger and the stainless guide rod with stock Glock recoil spring (but i think I will get some of the other recoil springs so I can see what I like).

SVTNate I have a few questions for you. What is the "plug" and what does it do? Why would you not get the extended slide lock lever again? And, how was www.glockmeister.com; where the parts easy to install and did they have good instructions?

Although your questions weren't directed at me, I have recent experience with glockmeister. I purchased a used G20 2nd gen. and added a few things. I bought the stock length KKM match barrel, captured stainless steel rod, springs - 20# and 22#- I am running the 22#. I have a new ejector/trigger housing coming any day. Turn around was quick, everything dropped in and ran great. Good luck with a great gun.

Thanks for all all the great information. I will let you know what all I do and what I think.
