Glock Model 22 (.40) Questions -- Caliber Conversion and Slide Refinishing

I have a couple questions summed up in the title I was hoping someone could help with regarding the Glock Model 22.

1.) Is it possible to convert the weapon to .357 Auto by merely dropping in a barrel or by any other means? Unfortunately, I know it is not "convertible" to 9mm due to inner parts.

2.) Is there any way to get a Glock slide refinished? What might that cost?

Thanks alot!

1) yes. to convert a .40cal glock to .357sig all you need is a .357sig barrel. just drop it in and you can shoot even with the same mags.
actually i have some good news for you! a glock 22 can be converted to 9mm!!! all you need is a conversion barrel. what this is is a barrel made my some after market companies thats outer shell (outer diameter) is the same as a normal .40/.357sig barrel but the barrel's bore and chamber are 9mm sized. this means that the barrel will lock into a .40 guns breech face, and use the same extractor, ejector, and firing pin as a .40 gun. the gun will shoot 9mm with only the change of the barrel (to the conversion barrel) and 9mm (G17) mags. the only company i know of that makes this conversion barrel for the G22/31 is norecoil. their web site is www.norecoil.com

2) i have no idea about this one. if you mean that you want the same finish re applied to you glock then i'm sure you can send it to the glock factory and they'd do it. i'm not sure how much that would cost though. also there are many good aftermarket finishes that you can put on your glocks slide such as NP3 and hard chrome.
also if you want you slide refinished because the black color is wearing off then you don't actually really NEED a new finish. the strong teflon coating is still on there just the black stuff is wearing off. this will happen on all guns from thins such a holster wear.

Glock doesn't recommend converting an older Model 22 to .357 SIG. The newer models with longer, reinforced slide rails are OK according to GLOCK. Check Glock Talk for more info on this.

Thanks guys. I'm excited about the 9mm deal... I was told it was impossible though nine tenths of the G-17 and G-22 parts are interchangable. I'll definitely look into that. The refinish would be for cosmetics only. Any idea of the turn around time on that from Glock? Also, any websites with pictures of the chrome finish? I'd be curious to see how that looks.

Barsto makes a 9mm conversion barrel for the Glock 35....they don't advertise it on their website but I learned about it on Glock Talk. I emailed Barsto and they do make them for 200.00 plus shipping. I'm sure they make them for the 22 but I'd email them to be sure.
