Glock misfires

A friend of mine has a glock 21 and 17. Both misfires with the same symptoms. The primers do not look like they get struck very hard. Several of us use the same guns (17s) with the same primers with no problems. I see no other explanation other than that he might be getting the trigger pulled before the gun is in battery.
He has cleaned the firing pin channel and does maintain the guns.

Help

No mods done. He uses the same primers we do. Winchester brand. He says late testing he has been doing shows that he is not getting misfires when he uses other than large win primers in the 21. However that does not explain the small primer failure in his 17 as the lot of us use win small primers too. Perhaps the use of the cheep lee 1000 presses he has is the fault.

The fault is probably not the reloading press, but perhaps something else. You're sure no springs, etc were replaced on the pistols? Has anybody else shot his reloads? Will his pistols fire ammo that he did not reload?

Just askin,

A few questions on this one seem mandated, as reloading of ammo puts a whole new spin on the issue of reliability.

1. Is he an experienced reloader? Primers need to be seated properly. If inadequate pressures are applied, equipment or brass is dirty, it can be an issue.

2. Has he checked lot numbers? If he tries a different manufacturing lot number from the same maker and gets different results, it's the primer. If he doesn't, it's the equipment or the user.

3. Although Lee makes inexpensive stuff, I have loaded some very high quality stuff on a Lee hand loader that I use when I don't feel like standing at the bench to use the regular equipment. That is not to say that the equipment may not need attention, but my bet is that it may be a housekeeping thing. If things haven't had a good cleaning lately, clean 'er up and try again.

Let me look into my crystal ball...

Hmmmm...I see that he has this problem only with HIS reloads, not with factory ammo or other people's reloads.

That'll be $20.

NEXT!

He probably isn't resizing his brass properly. He should make sure that he is running the sizing die all the way down. He should also check his brass fo proper case length.

I'll bet it's more likely a primer seating issue, if you don't seat them properly, the firing pin does the final seating, and you get a light strike and lots of misfires. Don't ask me how I know. :)
