Glock manual of arms question.

Hi everyone. I just picked up a Glock 27 today and I have a question about its functioning. When I dry fire it, the trigger does not return but stays in the rear most position. Is this proper functioning or am I experiencing something that is not normal. When I operate the slide, the trigger does return to the foreward, ready to fire position. Thanks in advance for any insight you can give me.

Thanks Blades. I thought that I had heard that Glocks have a second strike capability so I was worried there for a while. Appreciate your input.

Yes I have G26 and it functions the same when dry firing it. When you have it loaded and locked the trigger will return to the firing position.

Warning !!! Do not try this!!!! We do not want a AD to happen!!!

Just know that when you do take it to the range and you have a loaded mag in it, when you cock lock and pull that patented Glock trigger it will go BANG!!! Everytime ... and return to the firing position... without failure...

Let me know how she shoots i may be interested in getting one soon!

Happy Glock shooting!

Like Glock 17 II said, you do not have to let the trigger return to its full arc before it resets. The next time you do live fire, fire one round and slowly release the pressure on the trigger and listen carefully for a "click" sound. When you hear it, the trigger has reset and the pistol is ready to fire again. By doing this consistently, all followup shots can be done much more smoothly. That may be what you were referring to as "second strike capability."

You may also notice that the barrel rattles when there is no round chambered. That is normal also but the barrel locks into place once a round is chambered.

The barrel does not rattle...

It is always very solidly locked. When you have the Glock with the trigger in the fired (back) position, the striker can move inside its channel and this is the part that rattles when the pistol is shaked.
The Glocks don't have a second strike capability, if the primer fails, you have the trigger in the rearmost position and cannot just pull the trigger again. You'll have to cycle the gun to resume shooting, or (not recomended) move the slide about 3/4" back to reset the trigger.

Glocks have NO SECOND STRIKE
Thats why they weren't permited in
the pistol trails to replace the
venerable 1911. The Military
say they MUST HAVE second strike
ability .

You have some serious problems with your Glock if the barrel rattles when in battery, as well as any other auto pistol, loaded or not.

As for second strike capability, I will echo the others in this thread, no second strike. I believe that the second strike capability is over rated anyway. If I pull the trigger and nothing happens, that round is coming out of there pronto! In a real life defensive situation you don't have the luxury of pulling the trigger twice in hopes that it will fire before clearing the weapon and putting a round in there that will fire.

Congrats on your G27. You may find the Peirce Grip extension a useful accessory to aid in accurate shooting with your G27, it worked great for mine.

Good Shooting
