Glock Grip Modification

I read on one of the BBS's about companies the recontour the Glock grips.

Who does this?
Has anyone had this done? Were you satisfied with the functionality and the cosmetics?

I'd like to hear both good and bad (if any) experiences.

Thanks, lads!

Had Arizona Response Systems (ARS) do my M20. Good price, fast turn-around, nice job, would pay them to do my next one (like I'll ever buy another Glock. HA!).

There are several gunsmiths who do this, including Robar. (Their version has been written up in some of the gun rags.) At a gun show in Charlotte last year, I saw a G21 that had been modified to reduce the overall size of the grip, and I was impressed with the job. It made a surprising difference in the gun's ergonomics, at least to my hand. Cost was about $70, IIRC, but I don't remember the name of the gunsmith that did the work. Surely by now there are many others doing this.

Arizona Response Systems and Robar both do a Glock grip reduction. I have seen work from both of these companies. Aside from the fact that the pistols now look odd, they seemed otherwise serviceable. I only dry-fired them, so I can't say that the grip reduction was of any benefit or not, but I didn't like the way they felt in my hand. I wouldn't have it done to my gun, because it voids the Glock warranty. Besides, if my Glock fit my hand so poorly that I thought it needed a grip reduction, I'd sell it and buy a gun that fit me. JMNSHO, YMMV.

I had ARS reduce the grips on 3 Glocks. Then I sold them and went back to the 1911 style pistols. Like blades67 said, if you reduce a Glock to make it point lower you might as well go with a Sig, Browning or 1911.

I had a full size 45 glock grip countour changed.....my local gunsmith did this before it became common, I contacted glock and told them what we were going to do and the guy responded that if we ruined the frame he would sell us another one.........My local gunsmith wasnt worried i was,lol.....he filled in the hollow of the back strap with fiberglass and cut out that swell on the back strap, and we experimented a little with it, we added finger grooves and mess like that, we wound up removing the grooves and contouring the backstrap straight. Joe colored the fiberglass black and mixed some epoxy with color and added fine sand to it.....covered the entire grip and it provided a very secure grip......grip was still a little big for me, but the work and idea was right. The uniqueness here is how easy it is to add fingergrips and then remove them if they arent what you want--although it will fill in the "checkering",,,,also when the sand on the grip wears off, it is easy to replace and works well...fubsy.

How did they texture the grip,,,,it looks strange, but appears to have a good gripping surface, how does it hold up for longevity? ...tks fubsy.
