Glock G40 vs EAA Witness Hunter

I like 10mm pistols and have several, but for hunting purposes which would you recommend, and why?

10mm

No comparisons between the two. I mean yeah they both will throw a slug pretty much the same but the witness does it while being a beautiful, slicker than cat poop on linoleum race gun inspired machine with a grip frame that couldnt feel any more perfect in your hand. Ok , I may be a bit of a large frame witness fan but seriously it would be hard to find a nicer gun.

I'm going to end up with the g40 because the EAA is way too nice to take hunting....but then again I normally carry a 60's Sako 22-250 and 70's browning BAR hunting. So maybe it comes down to price after all.

If only CZ would make a P-09 style 10mm... :(

At some point, Glock or some aftermarket company (KKM, LWD, etc.) will start offering 6.02" or longer barrels for the G40 in derivative chamberings, such as .40S&W, .357Sig, and 9x25Dillon, like they do now for the G20 and G29.

As with the other Glock 10mms, it's the G40's switch-barrel capability that brings something to the choice over the Witness Hunter. That, and overall loaded-weight in the field.

The hunter is such a higher quality gun that its really not an apples to apples comparison to the Glock. Maybe a better comparison would be the Glock to your regular production Witness in 10mm rather than the witness hunter.

The witness hunter is a great gun. I have a G20 also though with a long comped barrel.

Were I to pick one, I would go with the Witness as it has a better trigger, all steel and a safety along with adjustable sights.

I use my G20 also for hunting support as it is well a glock and I don't care that much if it gets abused or rusty.

I'm a big fan of the higher end Tanfoglios - have a Stock 10mm which I love. I have never tried the G20, but have a G17, which while durable as heck, is nowhere as accurate or as pleasant to shoot as my Stock 10mm

Got the Witness Hunter. Beautiful pistol.

Does anyone know of front sight options? I'm having trouble seeing the black front sight when shooting.

My personal opinion is EAA Pistols are the best kept secret in guns. Quality, reliable, good looking, accurate and cheap. I love the Witness and Windicator line.

optic ready

Is the Witness Hunter "optic ready"?

Everybody must have young eyes, 'cause the G40 with its removeable plate to allow the plopping of a modern mini dot on it fairly simply makes it the winner for me due to ease of sighting over traditional sights.

I'm giving serious thought to ditching my G20 for a dot ready G40 for this reason.

Kind of off topic here but does anyone know how easy or hard it is to put a mini red dot on an XDm? I have a 9mm XDm I have been thinking of adding one to.

The Hunter frame is tapped for mounting an optics bracket, but I like using irons, too.

I wear glasses and don't have any trouble seeing even a white front post, but the black posts on pistols give me fits if I'm shooting at black targets.

I'll probably get a G40 too, just for the reasons you mentioned.

The EAA is a pretty gun, but will you really want to beat it up in the field??
Further, it has a lower magazine capacity...gag me with a spoon, really... ;)

Glock 40, takes a lickin, keeps on tickin ;)
15+1, or 17+1 if you use the +2 end caps...
this can be MIGHTY important against HOG.

Not to mention accessory and MAGAZINE Avalability...
EAA mags are more inexpensive, and not as easy to find...

And someone mentioned Lone Wolf's 9" barrels...
those by themselves are a GREAT reason to own a Glock for Hunting :)
