Glock finger grooves...ERG!!

I loved my full size gen 2 Glock, and wanted to get a subcompact one. I got some valuable input on here, and went and handled both gen 3 and 4 Glock 26s at the LGS to decide...

I hate the finger grooves!! My gen 2 didn't have them, and I didn't think they'd be a dealbreaker, but they are really uncomfortable/my fingers don't line up with them. I can't even get my middle finger to fit comfortably into the first groove under the trigger guard.

Anyone else have this problem? Is it something you just got used to, or did you pay to modify the grip, or was it a dealbreaker?

I love the Glocks' simplicity/functionality/reliability. But these damn finger grooves...:(

I would imagine that sanding down the finger grooves wouldn't be very difficult.

If you are willing to do that, it may solvebyour problems.

Or you can try a different pistol.

I ground mine (Gen 3 G19) down to almost flush. I have big hands -- the G19 is almost a 2.5 finger grip.

maybe the lack of them is one reason I tend to favor the XD guns.

I am not a big fan of finger grooves, especially on guns. I've never figured what size hand they are modeled to fit but I assumed a 10 year old girls.

I never had an issue with the finger grooves on my 17's and 26's. The 19's have always been an issue for me, and of any generation.

The early 19's had a mag ripping slot like the 17's, right where your pinkie finger sits, which was always very annoying. The newer generations, have it filled in, but that lower portion of the grip, still has a slight bump, and is still uncomfortable, and needs sanded flush.

The great part about Glocks are, you can easily modify the grips on them to suit your needs. I leave the finger grooves in place, and just stipple the whole grip. The difference in how the gun locks into your hand (especially with wet, sweaty hands), and how it handles and shoots, is amazing. The grip feels like a cats tongue when you grip it, and there is no movement once the grip is acquired.

Stippling is easily done at home by yourself, and easily touched up down the road, if you feel the need. You can customize it to your needs, and do as little or much as you like.

If you dont like the idea of taking the finger grooves off, you can also relieve the underside of the trigger guard to accommodate a better fit/higher grip. Its a common thing done, as well as relieving a spot more forward as an "index" for the trigger finger on your off hand.

I used to have an M&P9c.. was a fool to get rid of it.

I preferred my gen 2 Glock by a slim margin (which, admittedly, could be psychosomatic due to the Glock's track record of reliability) but it's looking like I'll either be hacking up a brand new Glock or buying another M&P

I removed the finger grooves from my 3rd Gen Glock(s)

I prefer the feel of Gen 2 Glocks.
My fingers do not fit between the 3rd Gen finger grooves.
I had seen this done before but couldn't imagine doing it to my Glock(s).
After considerable thought, I decided heck with it and removed the finger grooves from my Gen 3 Glock 23C. (couple more too)
It feels so much better in my hand.
