Glock: extended slide release?

Anyone know a good source for an extended slide release lever replacement for the G19? Bought a G19 for m'lady, but discovered that the lever is too far forward for her to use, especially to manually latch the slide open without a mag inserted.

The only extended slide release I've seen for the Glock (I have one on my Glock 17) does not move the release forward or back, but simply makes it stick out farther, so that its easier to engage. Given the frame design, even if you could find one that reposition the slide release more the rear, you'd probably have to reshape the polymer.

I don't an extended slide release will help your lady's problem.

And from a more basic point of view, its not really that big an issue: she can release the slide by pulling back on it slightly with her off hand -- which is probably a better skill to develop, as the main time to be doing this is during rapid mag exchanges.

(Most defensive gun courses tend to emphasize NOT using the slide release in combat situations. And if its not combat, time isn't a problem.)

Amen, and SOME holsters depress the Glock factory extended magazine release at inopportune times. Bad Ju-Ju.

I'm not sure why it's a problem to lock the slide open without a mag, since you can just use the other hand to push it up. I don't think I'd want an extended slide release on this gun anyway.

The ones from aerotech work fine. Glock now has a factory part.

These should be fine--

Right hand holding the grip, left hand pulling back on slide, and third hand pushing the slide release up. See?

Her right thumb is not long enough to push up the slide release while maintaining a firm grip.

Same answer that you got on Glocktalk. They're easy to install. You can do it in thirty seconds or less. I have an Alchemy Arms extended slide stop that I hate. Try the Aro-Tek or Glock factory part.

My 17L has a slide hold open lever that is indeed difficult as all (bleep) to use as a slide release. Reportedly because Glock neither designed nor intended to be used as a slide release. Notice it is not refered to in the manual as a slide release.

For me it is a moot point. I don't touch autos til after my second cup of coffee in the morning or after 10 PM at night. And since I use a revolver then, I may as well use it all the time. If you like autos, that's your business.

I like the model offered by Alchemy Arms. It looks just like the factory Glock lever, only longer and a little wider. I think Brownell's carries them for about $24.

Another vote for Aro-Tek part. The Glock factory extended slide lock lever for the G34/35 is much cheaper, though, and you can get one free by request to a well-stocked Glock armorer.

My wife also shoots a G19 and had the same problem. After $47 to Aro-Tek for their version of the extended slide lock lever and shipping, she seems to like the factory Glock part better!

For the ladies, it makes sense to have it as easy to use as possible - barring obvious tactical mistakes - it's hard enough to get them out to the range sometimes to begin with...

I installed a factory Glock extended slide release. Both work great! I had trouble with the stock slide release when I tried to use my shooting hand thumb. The extended does move the button back slightly and gives you the surface area to press down on. Now it's easy to reach and manipulate.

A good source for this part is www.glockmeister.com or www.glockworks.com.
