Glock enthusiasts lend me your ear!

Ok, I am new to the forums. I am a glock admirer... the only problem is too many glocks not enough funds!!!

What I want to know is which caliber glock... of the concealable ones... is the best for the money!

I primarily like the glock 26... thus my name.... but i have seen a lot of posts about the .40 caliber glocks. Once i make my decision i will be purchasing a concealable glock that will be my primary weapon.

I also am going to purchase one of these Makarov 9mm... a Bulgarian... so let me know how you glock enthusiasts rate Maks!

May fave Glock is the 19. My 34 and 26 tie for second. In my neck of the woods 9mm is 40% cheaper than .40. This adds up to a lot of extra practice and if that practice means you can put the bullet where it needs to go, end of arguement.

I have a Bulgie Mak as well. It is ok, but were I on limited funds, I'd get a CZ75.

The G26 is definitely a great package for the money, especially considering that it can take pre-ban Glock 17 or 19 magazines for a quick capacity boost. A&G makes grip extender sleeves that fit on G19 and G17 mags, so you can use the 15- or 17-rounders if you wish.

Of all the Glocks I've owned, the baby Glock G26 has been my favorite...I just love that form factor. If you already have a subcompact, a Glock 19 or 23 (the compact-sized frame) might be a better choice, since they are almost universally regarded as the best of both worlds: small enough to conceal well, big enough for competition and range work, and like their smaller siblings capable of taking the bigger magazines of their next-size-up model, the G17/22.

It all boils down to caliber choice. G19/26 if you think "Nine is fine", G23/27 if you feel you must have a .40, G32/33 if you like the .357 SIG. It's hard to go wrong with either of these fine handguns. My July 9th purchase will be another G26.

Makarovs are great guns, sturdy and ultra-reliable. They also carry well thanks to their slim slides and modest dimensions. I've owned one before and would not hestitate picking up another one. If you're on a tight budget and need a dependable quality defensive gun, the Mak would be the top entry of a very short list.
Maks are worth much more than their asking price of ~$150.

If you want .40 go with a 23. The 27 is much smaller but also harder to control. The 23 is a perfect blend. If you go 9mm then a 26 is good. Same size as the 27 but more controlable.
I prefer .45 so I carry a 30.

Go to Glocktalk.com.

My carry gun is a Glock 19, but I do have other Glocks in my collection. The 26 is a good carry gun, more concealable then the 19, 30, and 27. If you want a .40 and think you can control the recoil then go for the 27. You might also want to check out the 36 (.45acp) which is very popular at glocktalk.com.

Finial word, buy the gun that you want. You will enjoy it much more.

My Glock 27 is in my pocket right now. Deciding between a Glock 26 and Glock 27 really has to do with how you can handle the 40S&W round. It does have a rather snappy recoil. If you are ok with it, I would get the 27. If not, there's nothing wrong with the 9mm.

Hey there good buddy...

I went to the range while I was in Austin today and finally got around to renting a G19. A couple of weeks ago my friend let me try out his G26. Anyways, for comparisons sake...

To me, at least, the 19 is easier to shoot than the 26, but not that much. And if you're not used to Glock's triggers...they both could start off as being sort of difficult. After putting 200 rounds thru the rental 19 today and doing well, I've made up my mind to get the G26.

Meanwhile, if the HS2000's that I've had my eye on shoot like Glock's, but with a crisper trigger...I'll be the proud owner of one very soon. One note though...after 200 rounds, the tip of my trigger finger hurts.

I also am going to purchase one of these Makarov 9mm... a Bulgarian... so let me know how you glock enthusiasts rate Maks!

I own three Glocks. I carry the Makarov. 'Nuf said, except for buy the East German Makarov. They're the best. :D

Glock 29

If you are buying a gun purely for concealed carry, and want the most potent of the subcompacts, go with a 10mm G29. You really can't beat it. It's not as hard as the naysayers will say to get ammo. You just have to look. With good ammo, you have over 500 lb/ft of energy in a three and a half inch barrel. You can get hi-caps for it (15 + rounds) they are expensive, but what isn't ?
In Las Vegas (no CCW permit) I carried a G29 in just a t-shirt and jeans, no one was the wiser. The best gun for CCW for the money. The most power, (really) for the money in a CCW.

Will size really matter?

Thanks for all the good info!! Only problem is now I am getting interested in potency issues? Do I need more than a 9mm? Should I carry a .45 i.e. the G30 or G36 as my primary CCW? Will the velocity of the slug matter? Or should I go for stopping power?

Most people are saying that the .40s&W are a perfect blend, or the G29 10mm is a good option...

But, I want to know what caliber rounds have the most availability for practice... besides the obvious 9mm rnds. I would hate to have a weapon that I spend more time being concerned with restocking ammo than at the range!

I still vote the .357 SIG for potency, but ammo is kinda on the pricey side and not many places besides gunshops have heard of, much less carry any ammo for it. Save Wally World of course who had 3 offerings under the counter:D

Glock 32 with a FULLCAP!

I have both the Glock 23 and 27. They are both pretty controllable. The 27 can conceal alittle better. Both function flawlessly.

I agree with DOCSpanky. I have both the G33 and the G32 and they are excellent choices. The
357 sig bullet is accurate, fast, and shoots flat. I use the G33 more for concel purposes and the G32 for a bedslide gun. I did not find the recoil bad either and I am not an expert shooter. Just my opinion.

When I second guess myself I am usually wrong. Get the gun you feel good about and practice, practice, practice. I have a G30, am getting my wife a G26 July 9th and want a G33 for me someday. My G30 has less felt recoil the the G33 but nowhere near as tame as the G26. Good shooting.

Ok now I am confident that I will eventually get the highly recommended G26, but for now I am also going to get either the G30 or the G36 to be my primary CCW. Depending on the feel... I know i can put my trust in the .45 +P rounds I will be shooting!!!

I guess it is just human nature...

When you walk through the jungle you want to carry a the biggest stick!!!!

Shot placement is what matter the most. To me it's always been shot placement and not the cal. size that matter the most in handgun. If you want "stopping power" keep shooting until the BG goes down. Do not relie on one shot to stop the BG, not going to happen for the most part.
