Glock changed their recoil springs at some point?

I saw someone say that earlier .40 Glocks had a recoil spring that wasn't as hearty as the ones they use now. If this is the case, when did they make the change? Thanks!

So Gen 3 Glocks use the same recoil spring between the 9mm and 40SW variants. The Gen 4 Glocks use different recoil springs between the two. Not sure if that's what that person meant.

I'm hardly a Glock expert, but my understanding is that Glock went from a single recoil spring to a dual-spring assembly when they came out with Gen 4. Any one who knows me to be wrong is invited to correct me.

Correct, except for the Sub-Compacts... they had them prior to Gen 4. My 30S (Gen 3) has a dual spring.

Just curious, can people tell a difference between the old setup (one spring) and the new (two springs) in the 22?

I can't say exactly but my gen 2 glock 20 is undersprung. At the time I ordered an alum guide rod with 3 free springs. Even the shortest spring is a HUGE pita to install. Captured ones will be much easier.

I made an edit to my first comment since I made a typo.

As a note, you can't just put a Gen 4 recoil spring in a Gen 3. The cutout at the front of the slide that holds he recoil spring in place isn't big enough in the Gen 3 for the Gen 4 spring.
