I have heard rumors that Glock was planning on making a carbine similar to Ruger's that take pistol magazines. Is there any truth to this?

Have you SEEN the stuff that H&K is slipping under the wire these days? The SL-8 and UMP45 look about as sporting as a Kawasaki Ninja in a pack of Fat Boys!

One could only dream that Glock would do such a thing. I suppose if the GC was aesthetically similar to the Ruger carbines, they could get away with it. If they had some "progressively" styled gun, say bullpup or otherwise not PC, we would never see them. (other than as the bad-guy's weapon of choice in the final climactic scenes of the next Bond movie).

All the parts for a DIY glock carbine are already available, although not all of them everywhere. This would be my version:

G18 with fg/r
6" (G17L) barrel
folding stock
front rail mag clip (forward grip)
33 round mags
aimpoint

These rumours have been appearing for a long time, but since the official Glock website now has some real content, who knows...

I would still buy a glock carbine even thow hicap or not. It would be interesting.
I do own the kel tec, it is one fine sub rifle.

I've been hearing this rumor for years. Latest buzz at glocktalk.com is that they have a prototype and it is chambered in some high velocity small rifle cartridge (5.7mm maybe).
Pistol caliber carbines are, IMO, a cute but basically useless concept even of they interchange mags with your pistol. You're using something that's the size of a rifle and has all the maneuvering issues, but shoots a pistol round...doesn't sound like such a great deal to me.

I don't think it is a capacity issue as I can order 30 round pags for the Ruger carbine all day long.

As for the practicality of it, it has it's usefulness. Imagine taking a nice round like the 40S&W 180 Grain and putting a rifle's accuracy on it. Where I live, the county Sheriff's carry a Ruger carbine.
