Glock and Walther Triggers

What are opinions regarding the feel of a Glock trigger pull versus the Walther/SW99? I had an SW99 and didn't care much for the feel of the trigger, but am considering a G19.
The 99 felt very rough during the long first pull. Any thoughts on how they compare? I know that they are somewhat different babies, but my initial reaction to my friend's G17 is that the Glock is smoother.?.?.?

Redcrosse,

I have an sw99 and a glock. The glock trigger on my 35 is sweet. There is no comparison. I have big hands and the sw99 trigger has a more extreme curve to it which feels uncomfortable with my big finger. I really like the 99 but I can't shoot it for s**t. The glock is the straightest shootin' gun I own. The trigger gives ample room for a controlled squeeze.

I hope this helps.

I have a G23 and a P99. In my humble opinion, the triggers couldn't be more different.

The Walther/Smith uses a fairly traditional DA/SA trigger. The first shot goes double action, while all remaining ones are single action. The reason I say "fairly traditional" is because when you rack the slide, the trigger sits in the position for a DA shot. You actually are shooting SA, although you have to pull the trigger full length (unless you decock). Anyway, each time you fire, the gun automatically cocks itself for the next shot, the rest being single action.

The Glock uses what I call a single and a half action (they call it "safe action"). While each time you pull the trigger on a Glock, it pulls the striker back a little and then releases it. Upon firing, the slide half-cocks the striker for the next shot. Thus, each pull of the trigger pulls the striker back halfway (half an action) and releases it (a full action).

Anyway, they are both excellent triggers once you get used to them. Different in function and feel, but both good. Give them some time.

I thought I was the only one that could not hit the broad side of a barn with my SW99. I practice at the range shooting DA first round SA following round, and then de-cock the pistol; I follow this pattern for the entire range session. After over 1800 rounds, I do not feel confident in a first DA strike for self-defense. I keep the weapon because of excellent ergonomics.
I wanted to get a Glock G19 (rented one and was able to get excellent hits / groups after firing 10 rounds), but due to budgetary constraints, I’m currently unable to obtain one at this time.
I hope to acquire a Stealth C1000 from Heritage within the next two weeks. I rented one and was able to feel more comfortable with the trigger. I was quoted $269.00 for NIB.

I like the Glock'e trigger better! But i like the P99 better over all (I had a glock and have a P99).

I talked with Earl @ Earls repair last week, he has an upgrade for the trigger that will lighten it up by 2# in both DA and SA, for about $70. Since i live an hour away, I might take him up on the offer if i can find the time....
