Glock 43 First Range Trip

I have been looking at single stack 9's for a while to possibly become my summer weather EDC. A LCP in a pocket holster has filled this role. While I shoot it Ok ,I've always felt I was compromising for ease of carry.

There are a lot of excellent choices out there. For me it was between a SW Shield and the 43. I think I could have been satisfied ether way.

I have heard and saw a lot of reviews saying these light weight 9's are a real handful. So for the first shot I was gripping it like it was a 500 mag. To my surprise recoil was almost nonexistent. Almost no muzzle flip.

I was grouping a little left so I had to drift the sight. At ten yards was able to keep all shots in a 6" circle. Toward the end of my session under 4"and this probably would improve with experience.

I put 150 115gr. Blazzer Brass and 40 Critical duty +P through it without a malfunction. Follow up shots were very easy even with the +P. Overall very happy with it.

Now looking a holsters and carry methods. I know it won't carry quite as easy as Elsie does. I will have to put several hundred more rounds through it, but i think I have found my summer carry.

Heck, I could see it becoming my full time EDC:D

Lunger, By your post i can assume youu bought a G 43? If so I can say you should have shot the Shield as well. I bought both (G 43 & Shield) and after extensive firing traded the G 43 off....which is odd because I rarely trade and never sell, and own and shoot a G 42 which i have great attachment to. My favorite Micro 9 mm is the outstanding Sig P 938, easy shooter, easy carry but you must like "cocked and locked" method of carry.
So my G 43 did not ever feel comfortable in my hand, was not as easy on recoil as the others i mentioned....and in fact stung the palm of my hand when firing, something the others did not do. Well happy shooting with which ever you choose they are all nice pistols.

Mikey, Yes I bought a 43. Should have put in my post I have shot my buddies Shield and as I said I think I could be happy with one. I have heard many shooters don't like the grip of the 43 and had the same result as you.

For my intended purpose cocked and locked carry I would not be comfortable with.

With almost 200 rounds shot fairly quickly I felt no discomfort at all. I did not have them side by side but to me to me no notable recoil difference between the Shield
and Glock.

I guess every hand is different and what feels good in one will be bad in another.Choose the one that fits you best and you shoot the best . It's great we have so many choices.

Lunger, Yes I too am happy we have so many choices and it is odd i did not care for the G 43 as I indicated I shoot the beans out of my G 42 and love it ( my G 19 also). I probably would have kept the G 43 if my friend had not offered a trade at just the right time. I'm sure you will really like the pistol and i will shoot and carry my Shield, Sig P 238--938, Kimber micro or Mustang.....confusing isn't it ?
