Glock 43. Failure to Extract and Double Feed

Has anyone else seen this happen?

This happened once in the range. I tried to replicate without firing and have managed to make it happen about 1/20 slide rackings with probably a few hundred attempts. Lock the slide back, drop the mag, and try again until it happens again.

Not a good problem to have.

Besides sending to Glock, any ideas? The extractor claw seems to be intact and sharp. I have probably put about 150 to 200 rounds through this gun I bought new about 4 months ago.

I'd just keep shooting for now.
It could have been one of any number of anomalies that may never happen again.

When it starts happening more frequently then you can start looking for the cause.

Only thing I can think of that would cause that in the absence of some kind of issue with the extractor, would be a case stuck in the chamber. If it's happening when you rack the slide too, that would suggest oversize ammo.

Of course, it could also be an extractor spring that's too weak/improperly tensioned, but I would expect to see that cause problems more often than just 5% of the time.

Also worthwhile to ask the two standard questions: What kind of ammo? What, if any, mods have been made to the gun?

What kind of ammo,reloads ?
How much experience do you have shooting pistols, especially small ones like the G43?
If it happens again during live fire, pay attention to whether it always happens with one particular mag.

Magazines are always the prime suspect with feeding problems.
A round popping out of the mag at the wrong time can interfere with the extraction of the spent round coming out.
Definitely try another mag first thing.

I shot many rounds through the fore-mentioned 43 today. A mixture of Winchester white box...about 40 rounds..and about 20 rounds of Remington Golden Saber +P. No further malfunctions to speak of.

I suspect a combination of either one particular round had a problem &/or the testing process of repeated hand-racking is unsound.

If you want to try it, disassemble and chuck a bore brush in a drill and polish ot the chamber area of the barrel with the bore brush and some Flitz or some other polishing compound. This will clean and polish the chamber and maybe help it extract better. I had good luck doing this with a FEG Browning copy.
