Glock 42 magazine release, too easy to activate.

maybe its the size of my hands.... but when shooting right handed, i have the occasion to activate the magazine release inadvertently on my G42. it seems the magazine release requires only slight pressure and very little movement to activate.

does anyone know of a more stiff pin spring (mag release spring) on the market to remedy such a thing in this gun?

I've even thought of sanding down the magazine release so that it is flush and contoured with the grip to avoid inadvertent activation.

thoughts, suggestions?
 
I don't have that problem because I don't shoot thumbs forward. The last joint on my right middle finger is fused so I have to use a different grip. I hate to say it, but changing your grip a little may be the easy solution.
 
yeah, im trying to see if I can fix this mechanically so God forbid I have to use this when it counts my natural instinctive reflexive grip will work.
 
I’m having the same issue with mine, and have been considering replacing the spring with the thought that maybe mine is just a littke weaker than normal. I don’t want to have to modify my grip to shoot the pistol reliably.
 
Cap, me too. I haven't seen/found a different spring other than what Glock offers and no mention of tension. I might even have to sell this one.
 
Seems like an individual problem, not an issue with my G 42 or any of my many micro sized pistols. Have another watch you shoot and see if you can determine cause.
 
I don't have that problem being a lefty with medium hands. However, a friend of mine who is very big and tall had that problem with a Shield.
 
revisiting this thread now. I've found that it is my right thumb bumping the magazine release. the problem isn't my hold, this is the only gun I have that does this. I looked at the magazine catch lip and magazine body where the catch fits and don't see either as rounded off. could it be that the magazine catch is undersized by a small fraction? its not that the magazine catch is too easy to activate, its just that it takes very little movement to do so. has anyone else had this problem and if so what was your fix? the need isn't for a larger button but maybe a larger lip it would seem?
 
I don't have that problem with my G42 but using factory magazines or after market?
If using both, same problem with both?
 
file/dremmel/sand the magazine release down a bit, maybe. Needless to say, get yourself a spare one first, just in case you screw it up.
 
Glock 42 Magazine Release

My daughter and I both shoot this gun at the range, and both of us have issues with inadvertently activating the mag release during firing. We've had our grips checked by the experienced staff instructors, so we've tried to eliminate that as a contributing factor (although it obviously is, somehow). Despite the fact that my hands are larger than my daughter's, we both have experienced this problem enough that neither of us trust this gun to carry in EDC CCW mode, even as a back-up. I have experience shooting several other handguns. I'm an engineer (although not a firearms designer). In my opinion, the mag release spring should be tighter to reduce the risk of dislodging the magazine while firing the weapon.
