Today I took my Glock 41 and XD to my range to go head to head to see which gun shoots best and works best. The XD is my latest addition, inherited from my Dad with only two boxes through it so far. My Glock 41 is relatively new as well with 200 or so rounds through it so far I believe. I was surprised by the results today, and did document the shoot on video as I do on occasion.
Today was the first shoot of others to come. I will extend the range and difficulty of the shoots at a later date along with other conditions that test the guns in various use and application … mostly real shooting and not test lab shooting. It was a fun day!
The guns shoot equally well today offhand, amazing well actually! The XD had more movement, bore rise, and recoil than the Glock, but shot group size was above its pay grade. The Glock 41 has adjustable sights, but those sights are straight out of the box as is the XD sights. The ammo used was the new, less expensive, Federal Aluminum .45 ACP hardball rounds … I believe are the same to the Blazer Aluminum. You would think they are target loads as well as they shoot and function. I have shot a few boxes of those lately without a hitch and with wonderful results on target.
Have you shot the Federal aluminum ammo yet? If so how did it perform for you? It runs $14.95 a box in this area, which is pretty good for .45 ACP from a major ammo company these days.
If you have shot it, which platform did you use and how were the results vs. brass loads?
