Glock 41 and xd, head to head, which shoots best?

Today I took my Glock 41 and XD to my range to go head to head to see which gun shoots best and works best. The XD is my latest addition, inherited from my Dad with only two boxes through it so far. My Glock 41 is relatively new as well with 200 or so rounds through it so far I believe. I was surprised by the results today, and did document the shoot on video as I do on occasion.

Today was the first shoot of others to come. I will extend the range and difficulty of the shoots at a later date along with other conditions that test the guns in various use and application … mostly real shooting and not test lab shooting. It was a fun day!

The guns shoot equally well today offhand, amazing well actually! The XD had more movement, bore rise, and recoil than the Glock, but shot group size was above its pay grade. The Glock 41 has adjustable sights, but those sights are straight out of the box as is the XD sights. The ammo used was the new, less expensive, Federal Aluminum .45 ACP hardball rounds … I believe are the same to the Blazer Aluminum. You would think they are target loads as well as they shoot and function. I have shot a few boxes of those lately without a hitch and with wonderful results on target.

Have you shot the Federal aluminum ammo yet? If so how did it perform for you? It runs $14.95 a box in this area, which is pretty good for .45 ACP from a major ammo company these days.

If you have shot it, which platform did you use and how were the results vs. brass loads?

UPDATE

I just looked at the video and still photos again and, I made a mistake!:(

The hole I counted as out for the XD was actually shot by me when shooting the Glock 41! WATCH WITH A CAREFUL EYE!

The XD, with me shooting both one behind the other, actually WON...

OH MY!!!

I always find the XD/XDm shoot very easily.

I have tried the Fed Aluminum and it seems to shoot okay. I have gotten better groups with other ammo but for the price it's hard to beat. I did have one stuck case with the alum just as an FYI.

I've had stuck cases with brass ammo also, so you may want to rethink your rethinking of your backups.

Maybe go to steel case?

I only mention it as this was the first stuck case I have had in 2 years.

I can't remember a stuck case ... in an auto ... in recent history. Guess it is better to be lucky than good, eh?

I am still thinking about switching back to brass, standard loads for backup mags...

For actual defense? Yea I would. I think the alum is great for plinking. I have brass up to my eyelids for reloading but I get lazy.

I don't have a Glock yet, but I am looking to add a G30 to my safe around the holidays. I had my XD9SC at the range with me tonight and it performed great as it always does. This is one gun that I have never had a malfunction with. I just added some Talon rubberized grips, a pearce mag extension, and some glow-on to the factory sights. This, along with the powder river trigger kit in it, has become one of my favorites. I was very pleased with the way I shot with it. It fits me just right at this point.

My main carry rounds are the new Barnes HP. I use hardballs for extra mags beyond what I normally carry as the Barnes are not cheap, so with 3 45 guns to feed I shoot hardballs most of the time for training.

Not surprising at all, the XD is far more accurate in my hands, especially the Tactical version. Does it have a slightly higher bore axis...yes. Is it enough of a difference to offset a far more ergonomic grip, better sights, trigger and overall build quality?? Not remotely.....
