I like the .45 ACP round a great deal; it is my clear preference in semiautomatics. Until recently, all six (four 1911A1 types, a Sig P-220, and an H&K USP Tactical) of my .45s were full size, with barrel lengths ranging from 4 to 5 inches. A few months ago I bought a Glock 36 as my “compact carry” .45.
The G36 has all the expected Glock virtues -- simplicity, ruggedness, durability, and reliability -- as well as the anticipated Glock deficiency: less than normal accuracy for me. This is not “Glock bashing”; both my G23C and my G36 are far less accurate than any of my many other handguns, due to trigger/striker feel, ergonomics, sight picture and so forth. I acknowledge that this is my problem -- not Gaston’s -- but it is a real issue for me!
The G36 will perform very much as other Glocks do for you. Further, the G36 provides 6+1 carriage, with is adequate for my circumstances. It conceals very well in good ankle, IWB, or high-rise holsters.
Despite the Glock 36's comparative inaccuracy, I like having a highly reliable, high-quality .45 ACP autoloader that is small enough to be easily concealed -- even when I dress in a business suit.
