Glock 36 slide is about 1/16" too far back.

This is a new G36, hasn't been fired unless at the factory. I noticed it right away, but figured it was typical of modern day tolerances.

I found this youtube video which describes a gun with similar symptoms at 0:55, and thought that must be the problem with mine, but the groove in the slide lock is facing rearward as it should (according to the video).

According to the pic from the Glock website the slide should extend a bit past the front of the frame with the corners at the 45 degree bevels on the slide and frame lining up. Mine isn't like that, the front slide is behind the front of the frame and the bevels are about 1/16" out of alignment. Of course the slide also hangs over a bit in the back.

Am I overlooking something, or should I contact Glock?

I'm looking at my own G36 as we speak. Everything lines up correctly. If this is a new gun, I'd contact Glock.

Do an image search on Glock 36 and look at a variety of pistols to see if what you're seeing in your gun is visible on a decent percentage of the pictures that come up.

I just did that and it appears that the front of the slide and the front of the frame don't always line up perfectly on the G36.

They aren't uncommon. Three from Armslist.

The recoil spring guide on #2 looks real sporty.

The photos make me wonder whether the tip of the guide rod (where it directly engages the slide) might be out of position, have some damage, etc. THAT could cause the slide to be set back just a hair...

Completely normal on the Glock 36 and all Glock .45s.
The slide rails are flush with the frame and the cover plate hangs over a little.
