Glock 36 or Sig 245?

I'm doing my research now about the next pistol I'm going to get and I've narrowed down my choices - Glock 36 or Sig 245. Your comments/experiences about these two pistols will be appreciated.

I like the Sig 245 better. I've got a couple of Glocks (including a 30) and enjoy them. But the 36 just doesn't fit my hand that well. The 245 fits like it was built just for me. Recoil is a bit more with the Glcok than the Sig and I'm much more accurate with the Sig. My suggestion is to try them both out side by side and then choose.

Hello. I own both a P245 and a Glock 30, not the G36. They are both fine pistols. Here's the differences:

The Glock has a single trigger pull weight and a completely different action than the Sig DA/SA. The Sig DA is SMOOTH, but is a different trigger pull than the SA mode. I'd shoot both and decide which action I like FIRST. Some people hate the Glock trigger, but with practice you can shoot well with both...

The bore axis on the Sig is higher than on my G30, and the muzzle jump and recoil is greater, in my opinion, with the Sig than with the G30. Don't know how the G36 fares in this comparison...

The Sig is a beautiful gun. The Glock looks like a tool, and has a much more durable finish. If you are going to carry the gun all day, the Glock will probably show less wear than the Sig.

The Sig is the most accurate of the two, without a doubt.

If you get the Sig, get the Nickle version. The finish is far more durable than the standard Sig finish which wears quickly with holster use.

The Sig has the most comfortable grip for ME.

That being said, my carry pistol is the G27. 10+1 capacity, small package, very concealable, and more accurate (mine, anyway) than the G30. Hope this helps.

There's a pretty detailed article on the Glock 36 in the latest American Rifleman. The authors claims it's an excellent pistol but that recoil is very sharp making for slower follow upi shots.

I'd take a SIG Sauer over a Glock any day because they fit and balance better for me. Your mileage will vary.

All this talk of high bore axis is moot if you practice with your pistol. I consider it positive as it places the sights in an ideal position for me.

So many pistols, so little money.

I've shot them both quite extensively at my range. For CC, the Glock 36 gets the nod. No hammer, thinner, and lighter. IF it's CC, Sigs just don't compete.

Advice from a guy who'se owned P226s, P220s, and Glock 26s and Glock 30s.

For concealed carry, I demand no exposed hammer and light weight or I won't consistenetly carry it and that will be the day I need it!

PS - The recoil seemed the sames as any .45 ACP Glock that I've shot. Then again, the P245 really does kick since its grip is too short for my comfort.

Thanks for the input guys. If only I could buy both, but unfortunately... I think I'll go with the G36 because:
-thinner, ideal for CC.
-practical accuracy is good
-lightweight
-and lastly, the G36 is cheaper by approx. $200 (here in the Philippines)

BTW, I read somewhere that the chamber walls of the G36 are very thin. I know the .45 caliber is a low pressure round, but it got me thinking. What are your comments about this?

I agree with you about exposed hammers and weight. Funny thing is, I carry my 229 a lot more often than my 26, and I've never carried my 30. Practicality must make way for what you're comfortable with. :)
