Glock 36 Or 27; Which Better For Pocket Carry?

I am thinking of getting double-action only, semi-automatic handgun. Looking for something to carry in fairly deep trouser pockets for around the house and yard.

Also, want something with power and reasonable capacity. And, I want a finish that is suitable for pocket carry.

The lighter the weight, the better. Also, compact size is important.

Been looking at Glock Model 36 (.45 ACP) and Glock Model 27 (.40 cal). The 27 has has about 50% more capacity than the 36. I do not really know if the .45 is that much more superior to the .40 for stopping power.

I also want carry with a round in the camber.

So, first of all, what opinion do you have of the the either the Model 36 and/or Model 27?

And, what is your opinion of carrying them with a round in camber? Do you think this is too dangerous given the Glock's trigger safety system?

Appreciate your thoughts.

While I'm not a believer in trouser carry, especially for "deep" pockets -the common way to carry a SD pistol is with one already in the chamber. I'd do it IWB carry personally, especially for a Glock.

As for which caliber, you yourself can best answer it by testing which of these pistols hold/shoot better in your hands. The one you shoot more accurately is the one you should consider since both these'll work fine at SD ranges.

I prefer big holes from a .45ACP combined with accurate shot placement.

I have been thinking about this myself. I will be 21 soon and will have a ccw shortly after [if all goes well] in my area all you need is a clean record and to take the class. as of now, I want a G36 it feels best in my hand. i also want a p-32 Kel-Tek. So, go and at least hold both and if you can rent them.

I carry a G27

I have a G27 and carry it daily.I carry IWB in mid back with a Don Hume holster. My neighbor carries the same way his G36.We compared the 2 side by side and the G27 is shorter all the way around, the G36 is slimmer.Caliber difference is .05,I prefer the .40sw.I shot many 45 in the Army and they were true recoil monsters.Maybe it was the military issue round but I had bad experiences with them for the 4 years I was in.So I got a G27 and never looked back.Shoot what you like, get plenty of range time and perfect your carry, thats all you can do.SAFE-SHOOTING!

I would go with the Glock 30. It is a little thicker but I would much rather have 10 +1 rounds the 6 +1.

C'mon Bub, I've tried to fit my G30 into my pocket!! It don't work for spit!! Now, my G26, which is the same frame as the G27 rides very nicely in a Galco www.usgalco.com model PH286 pocket holster. :D

BTW: My Taurus PT145 fits the same holster!!;)

I would go with the G27. I can't see giving up the capacity for a different caliber that is basically equivalent in "stopping power." The difference in thickness will be minimal given that you'll need a good holster, formed to fit the gun, that protects the trigger guard, to carry safely with one in the tube.

Another vote for the G27. Shorter in the grip and muzzle, more capacity, and any difference in stopping power between a good .40 and a good .45 lies mostly in some folks ballistic fantasies. ;)

Get a good pocket holster that completely covers the trigger.

Both are nice guns, but the G27 will be MUCH easier to conceal in a trouser pocket. I do so from time to time with my identically-sized G33 and an inexpensive Michaels of Oregon pocket holster. No problems.

Check out the Keltec P-40 which is a 10 shot .40 cal pistol that can be carried in a loose fitting pair of pants pocket. It's also available with hardchromed finish and night sights. I have one and it's a reliable smal powerful pocket rocket. But the P-32 is much smaller and easier to carry and holds 8 rounds of .32acp and is also available in hardchrome.

Never tried the G27 in the pocket, but it conceals better than my G30 IWB with a t-shirt....That said, I ccw the G30 often and dont think I've been made yet.

Go with the G-27..... I carry a G-27 in a sidearmor IWB holster... And a extra G-22 15rnd +2 hi cap mag in my pocket.... I love my G-27 just look at my user name.......
