Glock 36 in 10mm

Why does Glock not make their slim line Glock 36 in 10mm? It should hold 8 rounds in the magazine instead of 6 .45s.

Does anyone here want Glock to make one?

That would have some pretty serious recoil! The G21/20/30/29 all have wide grips that spread recoil out, but the G36 has a thin grip like a Glock 19 and the recoil is not spread out--which is why the G36 is a little harder to control than the G30 or G21. I am not sure that a thin 10mm would sell enough to justify a new model.

The 10mm is a higher pressure, higher intensity round and just plain requires more steel (well, plastic) than the .45. The Glock 21/30 are actually 10mm platforms chambered for the .45. Even beefed-up full-size .45s had durability problems when chambered for the 10mm (e.g., Delta Elite).

I don't see too much difference in percieved recoil between my G29 and my G30; a narrow, single-stack backstrap may change all that, however...

Well, since I use to own a Glock 29 in 10mm, and it is the 'sub-compact' I would think durability would be no issue. They still make the 29, as far as I know. I just feel basicly a Glock the size of a 19, with a slimmer grip in 10mm with 8 or 9 shots would be a bit more comfortable than only 7 .45s. I doubt a full house 10mm kicks alot more than Cor-bon 200gr .45s from the same package.

Since I also own a Colt Defender in .45, and it has a thin frame, I would not worry to much about recoil. If you can handle one, you can handle the other.

Colt Delta Elite 10mm has a thin grip compared to most Glocks, and recoil is still ok.

I think a 10 mm Glock 36 would be fun!

I believe there would be a pretty good market out there if they did come out with the 10mm in the G36 gripframe size. Putting in a heavier recoil spring would probably be needed, but other than that there shouldn't be too much to do. Recoil shouldn't be any more than shooting some of the hotter +P .45 rounds.

Perhaps a the 10mm would make even more sense in the G36 than the .45 since switching to a small floorplate, as in the G30 9rd mags, would still leave you with a reasonable capacity. There aren't many folks willing to only carry 5 rounds in a G36 just to lose a bit in the grip section, but they will be ok with 6 to 7 rounds in 10mm with the flush fitting floorplate....but then as far as I know Glock doesn't even offer a flush fitting floorplate for the G36 as of yet.

The G36 was a great idea, unfortunately I don't think they thought it through a lot or else they would have made a larger grip frame with a flush fitting magazine instead of trying to make it a thinner G30. Why put up with the short grip if they don't even offer a small mag to take advantage of the shorter grip?
