Glock 34

Well I have had my eye on a G34 that has been sitting at a LGS for about a year now, they had it overpriced and it was not moving. As I was talking to my friend I asked what he needed for me to take it home, I was able to get it for $435 OTD. It looks great and I was happy to pick it up, box and all. I have had my eye out for a 34 or 17L for a while but the price never worked out for me until now. I like everything about it except for the oversize mag release, anyone change out the mag release on these? I have heard of some people shaving them down but I will likely just swap it out with a factory length, how hard are they to swap out?

I have 2 G34's and they are my favorites! I put a 6 1/2 in Lone Wolf SS barrel in one and the other is in a soft briefcase with a KelTec SUB2000 9MM. The G34 and the SUB200 use the same mags all the way up to the 33 rounder.

The only other mods I have done is I added a stainless guide rod and spring but I left the mag release alone

I'm just an average shooter most days but the G34 at times makes me look like some marksman!

Enjoy your new 34!

I am thinking of a stainless guide rod also with the mag release swap out. I also plan on adding a threaded barrel so I can use my suppressor on it and want another barrel so I can shoot lead when the can is not installed. I also noticed this is one of the early 2 pin Gen 3 guns, I did not notice this until I had it sitting next to my G19.

The extended mag catch bothered me too, digging into my support hand, &/or inadvertently dropping the mag. I changed it out for a standard mag catch. I've got a G34Gen3, and previously had a G35Gen3.

My 6 1/2 in Lone Wolf barrel for the G34 is threaded and right now I have a flash can on it to throw the noise toward the threat and it sure seems to work!

G34 may be a darn near perfect offensive and defensive handgun!

No need to buy a std length mag release. Take that one out and put a dremel sanding wheel to it.

Shorten and reshape as desired. Easy pesy

I was always bumping the slide lock on mine so I removed the extended slide lock and the extended magazine release along with the ribbed trigger and replaced them all with the parts that one would find in a G17.

I was lucky enough to already have a smooth face trigger (my preferred style) on this example and I do like the extend slide release and have upgraded my other guns to have both smooth face triggers and extended slide releases. Its just that extended mag release that needs to go. So seeing how I have never swapped out a mag release how easy or hard is it to do it? I would like to keep the ext release just incase I want to swap it back.

Smee, my 34 is a 2 pin gun as well and it shoots very well after many, many rounds (I don't keep track). The old Gen3's are very fine and reliable guns.

Thanks VBA, I still shoot my G19 Gen 2 and I know I have put many thousands of rounds through it and I bought it used so I'm sure this one will be just fine. I just need to get to the range now...:)
