Glock 34 or Beretta 92fs

Which would be your preference and why?

This also assumes that you have all the factory hi caps you want with the pistol.

This was a dilemma I faced until recently. I won't tell you what I decided until I hear from some of you and your logic and see if it was the same logic I used to make my decision.

I will say this, I have no regrets after shooting the new pistol. It rocks!!!

Having owned both... my choice is the Glock 34!

Mine is The Best Pistol Ever Built! The Beretta is a good gun, but always felt fat in my hands and needed to be oiled liberally to fuction reliably.

The Glock is just so sweeeet. I have plenty (to me) full cap mags for it and I'm quite pleased.

I don't care for the glocks because I don't like the "Safe Action", and I don't like the way the trigger pulls.

I'd get the berreta 92fs.

But really I'd get neither. I'd much rather have a sig p226 than either of those two.

I'd pick the Glock 34

Glock 34. Better accuracy, longer life (durability), and consistent trigger pull (vs the Berettas DA/SA).

i have a Beretta 92FS and a Glock 19 (prefer the feel of the 19 to that of the 17's grip). i love them both; they're both extreemly reliable and accurate. i prefer the G19 because i can shoot it more accurately and faster due to the trigger and the way it points for me. if i shot the beretta better i'd like it more but as is if i only had to have one of them i'd take the G19 (but i'd hate to give up the 92FS).

With just those two as options? I would get the G34. I think the Glock will be more durable in the long run, but both are fine pistols.

I have had 4 Glocks and the G34 is my favorite. Very light and accurate and the rail will accept the M3 Ti. Never a FTF with any of my Glocks.

If size is not a factor, I would go for the Glock, assuming that high caps are not a problem to get. Otherwise, gimme the Beretta.

92FS

I shoot the 92/96 better than the Gl*ck. Granted I don't have a lot of trigger time behind a Gl*ck, but the trigger bothers me, particularly right handed. Sure, I'm not used to it, but I also prefer the Beretta from the accuracy & reliability perspective. Accuracy is subjective at best, since I've put thousands of rounds through my 92, to about 200 Gl*ck rounds, nevertheless, I prefer the 92.
Remember this, Gl*ck  voluntarily replaced EVERY ISSUE handgun to the DC Police a couple of years ago. Call it whatever you want, but they did not wear well at all.

Whatever your choice, shoot often !

Glock 34

I would pick Glock because I shoot them well and they are durable and well designed. As far beretta 92's go I say runaway,
runaway.... I just cant stomach the locking lug failures. I have seen it happen a number of times.

I shot M9s in the Army. I've shot lots of Glocks.

About 2/3 of the M9 pistols I shot were unreliable junk. I'm talking about clean, properly lubricated pistols on a pistol range jamming with 124gr NATO ball.

All of the Glocks I've owned or shot were super-reliable, and most were darn accurate too, with all kinds of ammo and even when dirty.

Guess which one I'd take? :D

just had to post on this one...

I had a 92FS and STILL have a G19. The Beretta was a beautiful gun and I never had any problems with it aside from not being able to hit the broad side of a barn with it. I had friends that did lots better with it than I did. I can't and won't bad mouth it, but I personally didn't like it.

I have a G19 that does more with a much smaller, more ergonomic, lighter package than the Beretta does. FWIW I'd go with the Glock every time.

If I were in your position, I would have to go with the Beretta. Apart from the asthetics (or lack thereof) with the Glock, it just does NOT feel right in my hands. Just ... ugh, no. :)

So you ever going to tell us what you decided?

I have owned a Beretta 92 FS with two hi cap mags. The Beretta really shot like a dream.....

BUT.........

After my Glock 35 came in and was such a pleasure to shoot, I traded my Beretta 92 FS for a Glock 22. Having owned the Glock 17 previously, (still kicking myself for trading that one away) I have held the Glock 34 and it is a nice feel, I would have to say Glock by all means.

But as in all handguns.... it has to fit you and what you like, not what we all here do :)

Well, just ask any cop that was in the Army.

All five of the ex-Army guys I know have Glock 34s and Glock 35s and they used to carry Beretta 92s on duty as officers and MP types.

For accuracy, the Glock competition models are sweet and accurate shooters.

I'm probably not as well qualified to answer as the previous posters, because I actually own both the Glock 34 AND the Beretta 92 FS.

The FIRST and OBVIOUS answer is, GET THE ONE THAT BEST FITS YOUR HANDS.

I assume you already rented or borrowed both, so you have (or certainly should have) figured out which fits you better.

The OBVIOUS 2nd answer is that you might want to buy both - since both are excellent and you really can't go wrong with either.

NOW, for folks who may be considering the same choice, I"ll add one more comment. When you borrow or rent these weapons, make sure you shoot at least 100 rounds through each and DON'T stand there swapping back and forth from one to the other. The trigger pulls are completely different, and if you haven't shot Glocks much, it takes about 50 -75 rounds to get used to the longer "double action" feel of the Glock trigger. Once you get used to them, they shoot great.

Having said all of the foregoing, my Beretta sits in the gun safe most of the time (haven't shot it in about a year). The Glock 34 goes to the range at least once a week, and sometimes more often.

The CONSISTENT Glock trigger pull (first shot same as all subsequent shots) is, for ME, the tie-breaker. I can shoot both guns pretty well, but it takes a tremendous amount of work to learn to hit well with the Beretta in double action AND in single action mode. The Beretta double action mode is much stiffer than the Glock, causing most folks to lose a lot of accuracy on the first shot. THEN, the second shot has such a comparatively easy trigger pull, I always have to guard against an AD on the 2nd or 3rd round.

Nevertheless, I won't ever get rid of my Beretta - it's a great weapon. In my case, the Glocks just serve ME better. Especially since I own a number of handguns in different calibers. Eight of them are Glocks (in 9mm, .40 and .45). They all have the same trigger pull, whether it's the first round or the 17th (in the G34). So no matter which one I (or my wife) pick up, we are equally accurate with any of them.

Just remember my first OBVIOUS answer - the one that fits you best, and thus shoots best for you, is your best choice.

AND, whichever one you picked, practice with it as much as you can.

Stay safe,
Dawg23

Well, I appreciate all your input. Most of you went with the Glock. That is exactly what I thought and for the same reasons. So Glock 34 it was for me!!!

I had a Beretta 92FS that I traded for it!!!

I had both. Beretta was nice but the more I used it, the more dings and scratches it had and I accidently damaged one of my hi caps by dropping it.

I finally decided to try the 34. I shoot it more accurately, It and the mags are about indestructable, and the trigger is better for me anyway.

I was able to get 3 new drop free factory mags at the last gunshow for 60 bucks a piece. That hurt a little but at least I have them.

SO, there it is.

Thanks guys,
