Glock 34/35 Question

I noticed that the slide on the Glock 34/35 seems to have a rectangular cut in it right behind the front sight. Are these models compensated? If not, what is the purpose of this rectangular hole in the slide? Finally, I'm interested in the model 34. Does anyone have any experience with this model? Any comments would be appreciated.

That isn't a compensator. Those are lightening cuts to reduce the weight of the slide for better function.

The cut in the slide is to lighten the slide to the same weight as a standard 17/22 slide so the same recoil spring assembly can be used.

They also allow the ready ability to simply have a barrel ported, should the competiton you're interested in allow it. (IDPA does not).

It is for reducing the slide but there is also a compensated G34 model that does vent through that hole.

The G34 I got a couple of months go is surprisingly very accurate. A little more boxy on the grip than the USP but not exceptionally uncomfortable. The only problems I have had with it is empty cases occasionally flying back into my face and I didn't get one of those tiny flat screwdrivers for adjusting the sight which is no big deal. From the pictograms in the manual, it just looks like a tiny sheet metal piece with a small plastic handle. But I could have used it during my first round of test firing. The gun was off ~1.5-2" to the left.
