GLOCK 30 alignment?

I have a new GLOCK 30 and am extremely impressed. I had the opportunity to work with it on the range for about 1/2 hour today. Like it!

I notice that the slide seems to lean to the right. That is, when looking at the rear sight, the right side of the slide seems slightly lower than the left side, through the entire length of the slide. There also seems to be a bit of play when pressing down on the slide from the top, it's a bit "springy" in its rail.

This is my first experience with a GLOCK. Is all of the above normal? I'm assuming it is but thought I'd ask for feedback from those with more GLOCK experience than me. I'll also add, I'm one of those people who hears every ping an feels every bump when driving my brand new car home. Usually turns out to be nothing (the bump was a groundhog).

Thanks

I just looked at my G30, and the slide does not appear lower on the right, it looks level to me. Optical illusion???

There is a tiny bit of play when you squeeze the top of the slide and bottom of the frame in mine and I believe that is normal, My G27 does it......I noticed a used g27 that had more play in it than my new one when I bought it.

All in all I don't think I'd worry abou it.:)

My 30 (now sold) was straight, but my G19 slide is off kilter a bit. Considerable vertical play in the fit on both.

Poor groundhog. :(

Attention to detail in the Glock manufacturing process is, in my experience, inferior to brands such as SIG and HK.

Slide to frame fit, noisy recoil spring when racking the slide, less-than-positive controls...not "important" features, but not as well designed as other handguns. I have listed my observations in detail before, so I'm not going to bother now. I've owned Glock, I've owned HK (shot SIG extensively). These are just my observations.

With a Glock, I always expect less than perfect attention to detail. It doesn't affect functionality at all.

That said, I think Glock makes greats handguns. I just think other handguns are more "overengineered". I suppose the usual flames are in order?

My Glock 21 also had a slightly leaning slide. The mag didn't "click" into place as crisply as other handguns, there was a soft rattle when you shook the gun side to side...just small things like that. Shot great though, perfectly reliable, and that's what counts in the end.

marca,

Sorry, I just noticed you are one of "those types". Well, I am too...the slightest imperfection on anything new I buy bothers the heck outta me until I get over myself :)

Most non obsessive-compulsive people won't notice, or won't care about these minor points. They ARE normal in Glocks, and being a stickler for perfection in the details, I notice them in Glocks consistently. The HK USP has none of these flaws, which makes the gun all more beautiful to me :)

Every Glock is an awesome weapon, the G30 is arguably one of the finest Glocks there is. If you can stop worrying about the minor nitpicks you have with the gun, and you love to shoot it, then don't worry. It will function perfectly, like most Glocks do.

I never could get over my minor nitpicks, but I had more important reasons to switch to HK and sell my Glock (trigger, safety, grip angle, sights, etc).

None of that matters, as long as the barrel and slide lock to the same point each time. If your gun shoots tight groups with good ammo, then you don't need to worry.

Thanks everyone, for your feedback. Glad to know all those minor (really, really, minor) things that I noticed on my G30 are insignificant. I took the G30 out on the range again the other day and all is well. Had a set of 3-dot sights installed, too.

Bad news is, I rented a G26, just out of curiosity, now I have my eye one of those too. Unbelievably accurate. Thinking of trading my Beretta 9mm.
