Glock 27 or Kahr MK40

I'm in the process of narrowing down the choices for my next gun. I already have a few ankle guns, but this next one will hopefully be my Holy Grail of ankle guns. How do these two compare, and which should I get? I'd particularly appreciate responses from those who own both.

I haven't shot the 27, but the 33 (.357 Sig) and I own an MK40. I wanted one I could put in the pocket of my kakkis or cargo pants and not be printing. The glock was just to big. But be warned the Kahr is all metal and heavy.

I put on the heavy wolff springs, 24.5 # (?) and the recoil is not bad at all, even with Cor-Bon 135.

Thanks Ken. I had actually heard that Kahr was coming out with a polymer gun, and meant to ask about it in my thread because I didn't know much about it, but forgot. Glad you brought it up. It looks real neat. That gun is one big reason I haven't gotten the Glock yet.

Sounds nice, but given the track record of some of Kahr's polymer pistols I think I would wait until it was out on the market for a while.

I have the Mk9 which is about the same and is great to carry. Again..a bit heavy. A nice slim pistol, but ammo capacity is limited to snubby revolver capacities.

I've also owned two G27's at various times and they are very nice guns. They also approx 1/2in more barrel length for a bit more velocity. Then of course you have the 9 rounds with the ability to put a +1 extender for a full ten rounds.

I've found the Kahr a joy to carry in a good IWB holster. The Glock was like trying to hide a bar of soap.

Some folks aren't perfectly comfortable with the Glock trigger and are more comfy with the longer Kahr trigger. I personally like the Kahr trigger much more.

I ended up getting rid of the Glocks during various times in trade for other pistols. I think the Kahr will definitely be a keeper.

For ankle carry, DEFINITELY the Kahr over the Glock. I don't care if you CAN carry the Glock comfortably on your ankle... the Kahr would be more concealed because of it's slim-ness, and it will be just as comfortable.

Loaded weight of the Glock 27 and MK40 are too close for me to call without scales.

Let me add THIS to your choices... it's been out longer, so the bugs should be fixed by now....

There are a few guys on here that ankle or pocket carry this one without any problems. The slide of this one is STILL slightly shorter than the Glock 27, and the grip length is like the MK series... slightly SHORTER than the Glock. Plus, you don't have the super short slide to steal your bullet velocity.

I have the Kahr P40 (regular grip length) and a Glock 27. For CCW, I prefer my P40.
