Glock 27 Gen 3 or Gen 4?

I've decided to get a used Glock 27, but I'm not sure if I should get the 3rd or 4th Gen. The only real difference between them for me is the backstrap options with the 4th Gen.

For what info this is worth, on my Gen4 G35, I use the medium beavertail backstrap. Basically, I'm asking is the interchangeable backstrap system of the Gen 4 Glock worth getting?
 
Very little difference between G4 & G3 for the 27. Like you'd said, backstrap. Personally, it doesn't make a difference because the stock G3 fits me. If you need the backstrap option, then it's worth it, right?

For the wider slide on my G-21, I need the large BT backstrap that comes with the Gen4 to avoid getting the web of my shooting hand sliced up. Otherwise I prefer the Gen3:cool:
 
I have a generation 3 G26, and a buddy just bought a generation 4. I won't be trading, but if I was choosing anew I would get a generation 4. I like the interchangeable back straps, both for size and the option of a beaver tail. I like the mag release better, too. I'm so accustomed to the feel of the generation 3 that I actually shoot it better, but I am certain that is because of familiarity and nothing inherent to the gun.
 
After watching a few videos to "jog my memory" I've decided that I'm going to go with the Gen 4.

Besides the backstraps, I like the texture on the 4th Gen's and I'm sure the more aggressive texture on the 27 would make it feel more secure in my hand. Also, I greatly prefer the larger magazine release button over the small ones of the Gen 3.
 
The Gen 3's fit my hand fine, and the grip texture is nicer feeling to my skin as well. The Gen 4's are good if the back straps help give you a better grip and you want more aggressive texturing. You also get 1 extra magazine with the Gen 4's.
 
My suggestion is to try them both. If the gen 3 feels as good as the gen 4, then problem solved. My daughter recently turned 21 and wanted a G26 for her birthday. She tried both gen3 three and gen 4 models and didn't have a preference. Ok...needless to say, she got the a gen 3. :)
