Glock 26 yes or no

When I first started handgunning, I swore to myself: I would never get a Glock. They're ugly as sin, have unsupported chambers, and have that cheap feeling plastic frame. So naturally, I fell in love with the Sigs, they're reliable, nice to look at, and look and feel really expensive (they are). So I get my first piece the Sig P229. It does everything I dream it should. Then I try to conceal it. Oh ****. This gun doesn't conceal well on little guys.

So then I see this Glock 26 next to me in the range. I get a chance to fire a couple shots...and I'm hooked. Sure it's not as confortable as the Sig, but who cares. That little baby disapears under a T-Shirt! It's realiable as heck, accurate for a subcompact, tiny, and light, light, light! Just add 10 rounds of Remington Golden Sabers and your ready to deal with anything!

All you mini Glock people, is there anything I should know about these pocket rockets?

How much should I pay for a G26 in North Texas? I think I can get one for $600 with Trijicon night sites. Is that an OK deal? What should I pay at a gun show for one...there's one coming up soon in Dallas.

A G26 was my first (and still only) Glock to own - I love it.

Took me alittle practice to feel as comfortable with it as my full grown P89 Ruger, but like you say conceal carry is really pretty simple.

I put those Pearce Grip clip extenders on to give my pinkie something to hold onto.

I chose the G27. However, I think I'm going to get a G26 also. They can use the same holsters and I don't have a 9MM in my little collection.
In Louisville, Ky. you can get either the 26 or 27 for about $460.00. (Without the night sights.)
I had Trijicon's installed on my G27 for about $85.00.
Glocks are sweet little shooters. I went to the gun shop to buy a Sig also, but I came away with the Glock. :) About a thousand rounds later, I'm still happy with my decision to go Glock. Not one malfunction, ever.

I have sitting next to me a Glock 26 loaded with 11 124 grain +P Golden Sabers. I got it for $515 out the door in East Texas. I have seen them going for $469 w/ regular sights at the last Dallas gun show I went to about 2 months ago.

It has never jammed and has done everything I've needed it to do. It won't rust and you do not have to detail strip the darn thing every night to remove sweat and lint like you do with some handguns. I say yes, buy the Glock 26 and don't look back.

P.S. I have a couple of mags with the pinky extensions. They make it a little better to shoot, but extend the grip out far enough to make it not conceal nearly as well. I keep a flush fitting magazine in the gun and keep one with the extension on it in my pocket as an extra. At the range I see no increase in accuracy with the extensions. The little gun shoots just fine without.

Good luck!

Yes get one! Next door, in New Mexico, a new one can be gotten for under $500.00 +tax.

Yes, the Glock 26 is worth buying. Recoil is very mild, accuracy is good out to 7 yards--which is plenty for a pocket pistol. I have two grip extender magazines and one standard (I keep one standard so that concealing the gun is easier with the short height). 30 rounds of Cor Bon 115 grain +P is very comforting!

Doc,

Wait for the gun show, then look for Dr. (Dentist) David Avery and his eight or so tables under the "Doc's Walthers" banner. He always has the best prices, probably under $500 w/o night sights.

He'll put night sights on for you while you wait if you want some and he doesn't have one with them installed by the factory.

If you're going to Market Hall, he'll be set up to you right as you enter, about two tables back from the front.

If you can't wait, email me and I'll give you his office phone number in McKinney. He'll bring one to his office for you to pick up there. You'll actually look forward to a trip to the Dentist's office. :D

I really like my Glock 26, and my M/D Ent. BS-2 holster carries it high and tight.

The G26 is a keeper. While it is not as sexy as my P220 and neither does it shoot as accurate, there is NO WAY that the P220 will conceal as well as the G26. And the G26 gives you more rounds.

Get the 26. You'll never be sorry. Hey 9X19, I have one of Mark's (M/D Leather) BS2 holsters for my 26. You're right, it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. I have Mepro's on mine. A 3.5 lb. connector lightened the trigger pull to 3.5 to 4 lbs. It's the greatest. Shoot Safe.....CO

FWIW 9mm glocks have fully supported chambers. .40 and .45 glocks are the ones with unsupported chambers.

for a G26 with plain sights the most i'd pay is around $500. i prefer meprolights over trijicons and i feel that heinies are the best sights made for glocks.

Glock 26 . . . heck yeah! But buy used for about $400. Cops trade them in here and there. I've seen two G26s and one G27 each for $399.99 within the past three months.

Stick a J-Frame snubby .357 in your pants and see how that works. Shoot one and compare with a 9mm. Then if you still want to join the rubber gun squad, go for it.

Buy a G26, just not the one you're looking at. 600 bucks sounds a tad high. Buy a used gun. With glocks it really doesn't matter. Absolutely great carry gun. I carry mine in the summer in a galco royal guard with a hi-cap g-19 mag as a spare. The grip extenders from AG are hard to beat on a G19 mag. Good luck!

Doc,
LIke you, I too hated Glocks, then my friend got me a G26 for my birthday. The first time I fired it, it chafed my strong hand thumb knuckle. Pierce grip extenders cured that little problem. Well to make a long story short, I think this ones a gem, a real keeper it sort of grew on me. It is now my constant carry pistol. I would recomend it. Oh I forgot, you will soon find yourself wanting to aquire more Glocks. I found a G19 that was just begging me to take it home. I think that a G30 is next. So the adiction goes... ;)

Doc, Get the Glock you won't regret it ;) I to was one that said that he would never own a Glock  I purchased a used 27 and now I'm converted. I love it :D Almost bought a 33 yesterday but had something else on the list that came first :) But somewhere in time I'll get the 33 ;)

Happy Shooting :)

Man, I just posted that question last night! I log on this morning and BAM! I get 14 responses heavily in favor of the 26! Well, if you guys are that sure, I guess I better pick one of those babies up. Thanks for the advice.

Doc,

I would agree that a J frame stubby is a great gun, but I think the G26 is just as good, or maybe better!

Just think, the G26 is small, but also very reliable and dependable. I don't even wipe the sweat off...
