Glock 26 question

I just saw a G26 in a pawn shop without the checkering on the grip. The finger grooves are there, but it doesn't have the checkering in between. It was stting next to another one that was new and it had the checkering on it.

Can anyone tell me anything about it? The store was selling it for $419.00, and since it's getting warm here in GA I'm thinking of something smaller than my G19 for the summer.

Thanks

Probably a used gun (duh, a pawn shop) and the previous owner did not care for the checkering and removed it. $419 is a little under the new price in my area, but not enough under. $375-$400 in excellent condition with box and papers.

Jeff,
Thanks, yeah I know it's a used gun, but when I looked at it I couldn't see any marks of the checkering being removed at any time

Thanks for the price comparison. I only wish I could find one like that around here. Can you say envy. NIB arund here is 450-500

Originally the G26 did not come with checkering between the finger grooves. I don't know when the change was made, but my G26 was manufactured in 10/96 and is not checkered there.

HTH.

Hummm, I learn something new every day. I just looked at my 26 and it has no checkering in the finger groove area either. In fact I think I prefer it that way, the 19 I've been looking at has it and I dislike it just the tiniest bit. Just don't feel right to me.

$419 doesn't sound like a bad price for a used G26 if it's in excellent condition with the box, papers, cleaning kit and two mags. I paid $449 for a refurbished G26 this year and it looked newer than the new G26 in the case next to it.I believe Glock started putting checkering between the finger groves this year as I just started seeing them recently. Mine was made in 1/97 and does not have checkering between the finger grooves.

Thanks for your help gentlemen. For some reason I had thought that Glock had to have the checkering on the 26 tomeet the import requirements. I didn't realize that it was something relatively new to the 26. I am grateful for your help. I think at the end of the month when my wallet recovers from the P13 that I bought two days ago I'll have tomosey over there and see if they still have it in stock. :D

Glock made the change on the G26/G27 about a year ago. The same time frame that they changed the other frames to the new style.

Thanks to all of you that replied to my post and helped me learn more about this G26. I'm going back to the place on monday and if it's still there I'm getting it. I like the lack of checkering actually so I don't mind that at all. Yeah, the gun is practically in NIB condition, comes with the box, papers, and 2 mags, etc. a pretty good deal in fact. Hey I might as well get it before someone else snags it. :D
Once again, thanks for your help folks

I've been thinking hard about getting a G26 also. I think that the 26/27 might be the best used guns on the market. They are sort of oldly shaped and I'll bet a bunch of people have bought them and resold them before firing them a lot. It could be that the gun is basically NIB!

Besides the checkering, does the new generation G26 have any other structural changes?

I just bought a new G26 for my daughter. It has the checkering, and I like it just fine. I'd probably also like it if it didn't have the checkering. I also just bought a G30 from Bernies. I like dealing with Bernie. Maria is fun to deal with at Bernie's. Something about a woman packing.

I believe that Bernie quoted me $479 for the G26. I offered him $900 for a G30 and a G26, and he wouldn't take it.
