Glock 26 or XDS 9mm For Conceal Carry

Looking for a 9mm conceal carry. Narrowed it down to the Glock 26 or Springfield XDS. Suggestions on one over the other?

My philosophy is the thinner the better...The G26 is a great gun, but I hate small and fat carry guns iwb. The xd will be more comfortable..and more comfortable usually equates to more likely to carry.
 
I own a g26 9mm and an xdm 40 3.8 I prefer the glock for cc because the back sights are beveled unlike the xdm's back sights create a fairly sharp point which digs in. Idk if the xds back sights are different than the xdm but just thought it was something to bring up.
 
I’ve had a G26 for couple of years and carry it a good bit. I looked at a lot of guns and had a difficult time deciding, but for some reason the G26 just seemed more like a “real gun” to me. I realize that judgment will vary from person to person, but I’ve shot the thing a lot and it performs very well. I also like the option of using any GLOCK magazine including the standard ten round, 17 round and up to 33 round if you’re so inclined.

As noted earlier the gun is thicker than some of the other options, so consider how you plan to carry it. I actually carry the gun OWB with an untucked shirt, but I also occasionally carry it in an IWB holster.
 
I don't like the grip safety on Springfield XD pistols, which prevents the slide from being retracted if it isn't depressed. It's an unnecessary feature that can be a problem during one-handed/injured hand manipulations.

I carry a Glock 19 in a Galco Avenger OWB holster @ 3 o'clock, using an untucked t-shirt for concealment. Other times I use a Milt Sparks Executive's Companion IWB holster at about 4:30 under a light jacket.

Glock's trigger is superior by far. I bought the XDs 45 and I hate the trigger. I have a Glock 26 and the trigger is FAR better. The take up is mushy like the XD, but the break point is much cleaner, smoother, and lighter. The XDs is slimmer though and it has the benefit of the grip safety (which may or may not matter to you).
 
G26 for me.
Love everything about the Glock "platform" for carry.

(Hate everything about the Glock platform for fondling/admiring)
 
@Derbel McDillet - The grip safety not being pressed will not prevent you from racking the slide. It does not effect the slide in any way. The only thing the grip safety does is prevents the trigger from being pulled unless it is depressed.

To the OP - I carried a Glock 19 for years with no complaints and have just recently opened my carry options up to some of the newer smaller concealed carry guns. As of the past 6 months I have been carrying the XDS .45 and really like it so far.

If you have an XD I suggest you try racking the slide without depressing the grip safety - you'll be unsuccessful.

The grip safety on an XD is not the same as a grip safety on a 1911.
 
@ Derbel - On an XD, yes. But this thread is about the XDS. You can rack the slide all day long on the XDS without depressing the grip safety.
 
I have been carrying my G26 for a few months now and I love it. I can carry it all day and really don't even notice it much. I carry IWB @3 o'clock.
 
If you don't like the trigger, you can buy and install a trigger from powderriverprecision.net. I don't have any experience with the kit, but those who have, have nothing but really good things to say about them. The kit costs $18.95 and there is a youtube video showing how to install it if you're a do-it-yourselfer. You may want to check it out before deciding. Good luck, I don't think you will go wrong with either gun, but I just layed away an XDS .45 and plan on having the PRP trigger installed.
 
Glock 26 for me. I like the extra rounds and the little added thickness doesn't bother me. I carry OWB with an untucked shirt. Also, if I'm not mistaken, I think the XDs is heavier than the G26. I've tried the XDs on more than one occasion but I just couldn't get comfortable with it.
 
I carry a G27 which is the same physical size of a G26. Find another gun with the ability to do what Glocks can do from the standpoint of reliability and ease of service in the field. Glocks stand alone in being virtually indestructible. Take a Glock Armorer class, stock a few very affordable parts and be set for life.

I don't think most people want to buy a guy knowing they are going to have to do a trigger job right off the bat? Glocks have a pretty good trigger as stock set up.
 
Glock 26

I have been carrying the 26 most but sometimes I carry the XDM SC also in 9 mm. I have the most confidence in the 26 with night sights and a 3.5# trigger bar. But sometimes I shoot th Springfield more accurate.
