Glock 26 firing pin channel

I think my firing pin channel is dirty/plugged, the firing pin is not floating in the channel like my G17 and G21 do. Are there any sites on how to detail strip Glocks?

I don't know of a site, but I can give you a brief description:

1. Grasp the disassembled slide assembly in your left hand, with your thumb over the rear plate. The muzzle will be resting against the table top.

2. With a flat head screwdriver in your right hand(while holding the slide as above) preferable between your thumb and index finger, push the bar of the firing pin DOWN. As you do this, with your left thumb, gently slide the plate off. BUT BE CAREFUL!!! If you slide the plate off too fast or your are not paying attention, the firing pin and plunger will shoot up and possibly in your face. It helps to cover the area with your left thumb as you slide it off.

3. Carefully remove firing pin assembly. If you can manage, don't take the assembly down any further than that. There are 2 small black peices that surround the pin and are under pressure. If you have to, grasp the spring and press down as you remove the two pieces. If you are not careful here and the pieces seperate and the spring pops up, you will be up sh!t creek looking for them on your floor, or digging them our of your eye. They are small and easily lost(take this from experience and learn from my mistakes. :(

4. Use a Q-Tip and clean and dry the area thoroughly. Be careful the plunger doesn't come up too far or the ejector will need to be reset. Assemble in reverse as above.

Hope this helps. I had a Glock Armorer show me how to detail strip my 21 when I had it and I couldn't believe how simple it was. Have fun!!

Mike

You don't need to remove the spring from the striker in order to clean out the striker channel. I use alcohol as a solvent. You don't want anything that's "oily" left in the channel.
