Glock 26, 36 or Kahr MP9

I looking for a back-up sized weapon. I currently have a Glock 17 and a Kel-Tek P32. So the full size and the pocket gun are covered. What I'm looking for is a pistol that has more power than the P32 but still easy to carry. I really like Glock products but I thought I'd consider the Kahr. I feel that 9mm is fine but I heard that the 36 is thinner than the normal Glocks. Thanks, Lars.

The fact that you already have a 17 makes the 26 the only logical choice. I don't personally care for it, but you will probably like it if you like your 17. It is the same caliber and will take the full size mags if needed.

If it was my choice I would buy the Glock-36, with .45acp POWER in a small, light weight package! I have been looking into buying a Glock-36 myself.

It's just my opinion. Good Luck!

got a Gl7 and a G26. like them both but dont love them. the 26 is a little brick, but with the night sights and the G17 hicaps for reloads it is a viable unit.

KelTec makes a 9mm big brother to the 32. I keep considering one as it is much thinner/lighter than the G26 and about as, if not as, reliable as the Glock. (add cheaper too)

dunno. ya pays ya money and . . . . . . haunt the gun shops and handle them all. if you are like me, something will grab you.

I like the G36. When I move up from my .38 Special snubbie, this is the choice.

6+1 rounds of .45 ACP makes me feel comfortable.
For shooting at the range, or for home and vehicle defense, the Pearce +1 Magazine/Grip extenders (shown) are an option.

Some people don't like the recoil of the G36 when shooting 230 grain rounds, so it would be a good idea to shoot the G36 before you buy it.

I've handeled the G36 and although a bit slimmer (hundreths of an inch) the additional length and height convinced me to go with the G27 in .40sw. Not as thin but easier to conceal, at least on my frame and packs quite a punch. I carry full size autos in 45 but they are single stack and thin. The 36 just didn't seem that much thinner than my full size.

I am not a big Glock fan -- due to their trigger/striker pull/feel and my inability to achieve the accuracy I do with all my other revolvers and semiautomatics -- despite Glock's unquestionable reliability and durability. However, the Glock 36 is a great, small, .45 ACP carry piece, with 6+1 capacity. I use a Forbus ankle holster, which offers solid, secure carry under all conditions (even in a business shirt and tie, without a jacket).

My personal “bottom line” is simple: When I can easily conceal a larger handgun -- normally with some type of “over garment” -- I much prefer my revolvers or some other autoloader. But when I am wearing a shirt and tie with the coat removed, which is my normal office attire, the G36 is provides a wonderful ability to carry a reasonably potent handgun and never be “made”.
