Glock 22

I'm getting a CCW soon, and am thinking of making a Glock 22 my carry pistol. Is there anyway to hide the thing in the warmer months? Or would I be better off buying a smaller pistol for that? Is the Glock 22 suitable for carry, as far as size, and if not, any suggestions on what I should carry? Thanks for all help.

For concealed carry I would go with the Glock 23 or the 27. I prefer the G27 because it is more concealable and just as accurate. Either way you cant go wrong.

With smart carry [thuder wear] the Glock 20 is trouble sitting down. The Glock 22 is no problem. Of course all the variables are clothing and anatomy based, so your max may vary.

Depending on your size, try a 15° forward cant IWB holster and wear loose shirts. Also an undershirt will help break up the outline of the gun. I've done this with a full-size USP 40 with no problems.

Yugo,

Your question doesn't have a short, easy answer. Climate and the daily apparel you wear will have a direct impact on what you can easily and comfortably conceal.
Most people live in climates that are somewhat seasonal and therefore require concealment in winter, which is easy due to heavy and layered clothing, and the summer when clothing is thinner and concealment is more difficult.
If you are going to buy only one pistol for CCW, which is good from a familiarity standpoint, you must consider your most difficult time to carry and buy accordingly.
That's why some have recommended the G23 or G27.
If in an office environment, where a tucked shirt is required, deep concealment will likely be required. Holsters are made by Galco and others that allow you to carry IWB(inside the waistband) and still tuck the shirt over the pistol. For this condition, I would also recommend the G27.
If you can where a vest, jacket, or untucked shirt, you can get good holsters that can carry any of the ones mentioned.
One word of advice- dont buy a well-made $500 pistol and try to carry in a $10 holster. Your holster needs to be of similar quality to serve the needed purpose.
Consider all the factors well, read and study to make an educated choice, and you should do fine. You also may find you need more than one holster for different occasions.

Good Luck,
Dave

If I could only have one carry gun, the Glock 23 would be a top contender. I personally don't care for the 27, but with a finger extension it could work.

Unless you have really large hands that stick out past the bottom of the 23, I'd get the 23. You lose nothing in capacity with post-ban clips, and only 2 rounds with pre-ban ones.

Some G22 owners are going to be upset with me but here is my experience. I have owned 3 G22s (all pre 3rd gen) over the years. Presently have none. I own a G27 presently. Up to 25yds the G27 is as/more accurate than my G22s. I will say the same thing about my G26 vs G17. The baby Glocks will really surprise you in this area. Reliability of course is excellent in all. Go with a baby Glock for what you are looking for!

I like the compact Glocks (G32/G23/G19/G30) for off-duty/concealed carry. I haven't done enough shooting with my new G30 to trust it for carry but after another few hundred rounds to establish reliability I will most likely grab the G30 for off-duty carry. The G30 gives me 10 rounds of .45ACP in a compact frame and it is more than accurate enough for self defense.

In my opinion, the Glock G30 appears to be the untimate off duty concealed carry pistol...FOR ME. I'd highly recommend renting a G30 or finding a friend that owns one that you could try out before making your decision on which pistol to buy for use as a CCW.

As always, just my 2% of the proverbial dollar. :)
