Glock 21 or 30???

I would definitely buy the 30 rather than the 21. The 30 is much more ergonomic and handles better. There have also been numerous reports of problems with the postban ten round Glock 21 mags, which don't occur with the 30 mags.

If you are looking for a concealed carry gun, the G30 is the way to go. Get some of the Pierce magazine floorplates and you get a better feeling grip. You give up some velocity with the short barrel of the G30. I chronographed some 200gr loads at an average of 849 fps from a G21 and 785 fps from a G30. The same load went 892 fps from the 5 in. barrel of a Colt Government Model. Both the G30 and the G21 seem to be among the most accurate Glocks. Around here both models are selling for the same price, about $550 - $570 with plain fixed sights.

Being a 21 owner I'd have to vote for it. It conceals well, (For me), Handles well, (For me), and I've had no problems with my one post ban 10 rounder.

IMO, large pistols are easier to shoot well than small ones. But of course I've never shot a G30 so may or may not be wrong about that particular one!

I vote for the G30. The average person could carry it more comfortably than the G21 without worrying about printing, especially here in Florida.

If you want some extra velocity you can either get an extended aftermarket barrel or shoot some +P ammo. I doubt if I would want to shoot .45 Super out of the G30, but users down at Glock Talk have been reporting good results.

The prices in my area...after you talk the dealer down are about $600 for a G30 and $550 for the G21. I suspect they are preying on the popularity of the G30 rather than actual dealer cost.

CCW - G30

Training and competitions = G21

Semi wadcutters = only the G21

I carry and compete withmy G30.

Reputed to be the most accurate Glock of all - the G30.

I happen to have a G21 and a G30. I will say that the G30 seems to be about as accurate as the G21, and both are probably better than I am. With 10 round magazines, you can get all your fingers on the G30 grip, so it's basically very similar to shooting the G21. I'd pick the one you like, hard to go wrong with either one. FWIW, I don't own any G21 10 round magazines, and since I had such lousy luck with the G17 10 round magazines, I never will own any of them!

Redlg155,

I suspect you are right. I think LE price is the same for both models. As of yesterday it was $465. :D

I have both but I prefer the G30 for CCW. For duty use or open carry I'd probably pack the G21. Mine are equally accurate in my hands.

Also, I only have ten rounders for my G21 and I haven't had a single bobble out of them. Just my experience.

Maybe its me, and I posted this before i think, but the G21 despite its full size just seems to have grips that fir my hand better than the 30.I played with the idea of gettign a 30 myself, then at a shop I held it and the 21 side by side, and the 21 seems to fit better I like the 30 I just feel the grip feels too "fat":(

The average price in my area is 535$ for either a 20, 21, 29 or 30. I like the 20 better than the 30. I realize they're different calibers, but I didn't have a 21 and 29 available to me.

The G30 is accurate and ergonomically suitable for my hand, and IMO, a good choice for CCW (between the G21 and G30) in a hot weather environment like FL. Carrying the G21 concealed is not a problem with a heavy coat during the winter's in ID...if you don't take your coat off...but once I got the G30, it is all I carry anymore, with my G21 confined to the nightstand. My .02....

I've never shot either (30 or 21) but I find it hard to believe that the 30 would be more accurate. The 21 has a 4.60in barrel and 6.77in sight radius while the 30 has a 3.78in barrel and a 5.95in sight radius. Any ideas why this would be the case?
